First Massive State of the Superstring in Superspace

    Get PDF
Using the manifestly spacetime supersymmetric description of the four-dimensional open superstring, we construct the vertex operator in superspace for the first massive state. This construction provides an N=1 D=4 superspace representation of the massive spin-2 multiplet.Comment: 7 pages late

Integral equations of scattering in one dimension

A self-contained discussion of integral equations of scattering is presented in the case of centrally-symmetric potentials in one dimension, which will facilitate the understanding of more complex scattering integral equations in two and three dimensions. The present discussion illustrates in a simple fashion the concept of partial-wave decomposition, Green's function, Lippmann-Schwinger integral equations of scattering for wave function and transition operator, optical theorem and unitarity relation. We illustrate the present approach with a Dirac delta potential.Comment: 12 pages, accepted in American Journal of Physic

Reply to "Comment on Renormalization group picture of the Lifshitz critical behaviors"

We reply to a recent comment by Diehl and Shpot (cond-mat/0305131) criticizing a new approach to the Lifshitz critical behavior just presented (M. M. Leite Phys. Rev. B 67, 104415(2003)). We show that this approach is free of inconsistencies in the ultraviolet regime. We recall that the orthogonal approximation employed to solve arbitrary loop diagrams worked out at the criticized paper even at three-loop level is consistent with homogeneity for arbitrary loop momenta. We show that the criticism is incorrect.Comment: RevTex, 6 page

Black Holes in the Gauge Theoretic Formulation of Dilatonic Gravity

    Get PDF
We show that two-dimensional topological BF theories coupled to particles carrying non-Abelian charge admit a new coupling involving the Lagrange multiplier field. When applied to the gauge theoretic formulation of dilatonic gravity it gives rise to a source term for the gravitational field. We show that the system admits black hole solutions.Comment: Action is improved to be reparametrization invariant. Misprintings corrected. 10 pages, Late
