This paper concerns about bio fuel production from renewable biomass resource and its characteristics in diesel engines. In this research work, Free Fatty Acid Oils (FFAO) from oil refineries was considered as biomass renewable resource for the production of biodiesel. These free fatty acid oil are one of the waste by product in edible oil extraction refineries and its potential energy can be easily converted into useful biodiesel in bio fuel sector by the process of transesterification. Due to ethanol catalyst used in transesterification process, Ethyl esters of free fatty acid oils (EEFFAO) were extracted from FFAO. These EEFFAO were blended with diesel in different proportions (20, 40, 60, 80 and pure EEFFAO) to indentify the maximum possibility to use an biodiesel in diesel engines. From the results, possibilities of biofuel from free fatty acid oil can be replaced at 20 percentage in existing fossil fuel depletion. The major diesel consumption is in the field of automobile, industry and agriculture. The increasing the petroleum cost also increasing the other consumable cost, it affects the economics of growing country like India. Biodiesel is considered as a promising alternative to fossil fuels worldwide. The oils selected for the study are groundnut acid oil from vegetable oil refinery industrial waste. The oil is converted into their ethyl esters by the transesterification process. Ethyl Esters of Ground Nut Acid Oil (EEGAO) and their blends (B20EEGAO, B40 EEGAO, B60EEGAO and B80EEGAO) each with diesel have been evaluated in the present investigation for single cylinder DI diesel engine. The speed of the test engine was maintained at 1500 rpm in entire experiment and speed to be controlled by governor is used to control. The results obtained performance parameters slightly reduce when the engine operated with all EEGAO blend. B20EEGAO blends reduce the emission compare to all other blends and diesel.
