Electrical Characterization and Impedance Response of Lanthanum Doped Barium Titanate Ceramics
The dielectric permittivity and dissipation factor of La-doped and undoped BaTiO3 were investigated as a function of frequency and temperature. The impedance response was used to study the electrical properties of La-doped BaTiO3 over the temperature range from room temperature (RT) to 350 degrees C. La-doped and undoped BaTiO3, obtained by a modified Pechini method, were sintered in air at 1300 degrees C for 2 and 16 hours. The impedance spectra were analyzed in terms of equivalent circuits involving resistors, capacitors and constant phase elements (CPE). The most suitable electrical circuit for the interpretation of experimental results is found to be the equivalent circuit consisting of resistors and CPE elements which replace the capacitor elements. The contribution of grain boundary resistance to the total resistance of a system is remarkable at low temperature. Dielectric permittivity of doped BaTiO3 was in the range of 8000 to 12000 at 1 kHz and the dissipation factor was less than 1%
Antioksidativna aktivnost etanolnih ekstrakata Solanum Retroflexum
In this paper the antioxidant activity of ethanolic extracts from Solanum retroflexum
Dun fruits were investigated. The extracts were obtained by classical technique and by
Soxhlet extraction. In order to investigate the possibilities of future utilization of
Solanum retroflexum fruits, the antioxidant activity, by FRAP and DPPH method was
determined. Results showed the extract obtained by 75% ethanol and classic extraction
during 45 minutes at 60Ā°C, had the highest antioxidant activity, both for DPPH and
FRAP method (EC50 was 60,67 Ī¼g/mL and 1,55 Ī¼mol Fe2+/mg, respectively). There was
good correlation of results for antioxidant activity obtained by both methods and for all
analyzed extracts.Rad se bavi ispitivanjem antioksidativne aktivnosti etanolnih ekstrakata
ploda biljke Solanum retroflexum Dun. Ekstrakti su dobijeni tehnikama klasiÄne i
Soxhlet extrakcije. Potencijalna antioksidativna aktivnost je ispitana FRAP i DPPH
metodama.
dobijenih obema metodama u sluÄaju svih analiziranih ekstrakata
Structural, morphological and luminescence properties of nanocrystalline up-converting Y1.89Yb0.1Er0.01O3 phosphor particles synthesized through aerosol route
Nanocrystalline up-converting Yā OāYbĀ³āŗ ErĀ³āŗ phosphor particles were processed in a dispersed system-aerosol, generated ultrasonically at 1.3 MHz from common nitrate precursor solution having fixed ytterbium-to-erbium concentration ratio. The appropriate process parameters: residence time 21 s, carrier gas (air) flow rate 1.6 dm3/min, synthesis temperature 900 Ā°C, led to the formation of un-agglomerated spherical nanostructured secondary particles, having mean particle size of approx 450 nm, composed of primary nanoscaled (20 nm) subunits. In order to reach targeting phase crystallinity, the as-prepared particles were additionally annealed at 1100 Ā°C in air for 12, 24 and 48 h, respectively. Particle structure, morphology and purity were analyzed by X-ray powder diffraction (XRPD), scanning electron microscopy (FESEM/SEM), analytical and high resolution transmission electron microscopy (TEM/HRTEM) in combination with energy dispersive X-ray analysis and Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy (FTIR). All samples crystallized in a cubic bixbyte-structure, space group Ia-3. The crystallite size changed with annealing time from 30 nm in as-prepared sample to 135 nm in sample annealed for 48 h, respectively. Emission spectra were assigned to the following trivalent erbium fāf electronic transitions: Ā²Hā/ā ā ā“Iāā
/ā (blue: 407ā420 nm), (Ā²Hāā/āĢ¦ ā“Sā/ā) ā ā“Iāā
/ā (green: 510ā590 nm), and ā“Fā/ā ā ā“Iāā
/ā (red: 640ā720 nm). The significant improvement of the emission decay times were observed after thermal treatment and this effect is correlated further with the structural and morphological particles characteristics. For the anneal-ing time of 12 h a quite high emission decay times were achieved (blue: 0.14 ms, green: 0.32 ms and red: 0.39 ms). This research is financially supported through the Project #172035 of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Serbia. Effects of powder preparation and sintering procedure on microstructure and dielectric properties of PLZT ceramics
PLZT ceramics belong to one of the very important groups of functional materials that make a basis for the production of a large range of electronic devices. The microstructure and properties of ceramics depend on the powder preparation and thermal processing conditions. Various techniques have been used to obtain chemically homogeneous and fine starting powders. PLZT powders have been prepared by two different production routes: by a modified Pechini method, using a polymeric precursor method (PMM) and by a partial oxalate method. A two-step sintering process, including a hot pressing, was carried out at 1100 and 1200degreesC Distinct phases obtained during the sintering process have been investigated by SEM and EDS techniques and dielectric properties such as permittivity and dielectric loss were measured in a frequency range from 1 to 20 kHz.. A significant difference in microstructure and dielectric properties, depending on powder origin and sintering procedure, has been noticed
