    Transportation is a basic need of society and with the increasing population; indirectly there are increases in the vehicle density, which may lead to many road accidents resulting in injuries and sometimes lead to death. The aim of our project is to make human driving safer and to overcome accidents. This project is developed by integrating the vibration sensor, alcohol sensor, and ultrasonic sensor with the Arduino board. The vibration sensor used in this project is SW420 that detects the vibrations occur in a car and the data obtained can be utilized to detect an occurrence of an accident. The alcohol sensor used in this project is MQ3, which can detect the alcohol content in human breath. The ultrasonic sensor is used in the project to detect the presence of a vehicle for Anti-collision system. The system also makes use of GPS and GSM for real-time analysis

    Autoimmune hypophysitis presenting as solid-cystic mass managed conservatively

    Background: Autoimmune hypophysitis (AH) is a rare inflammatory condition of the pituitary gland and usually affects women of childbearing age. It commonly leads to pituitary dysfunction. Moreover, pituitary enlargement may lead to compressive symptoms, which necessitates urgent surgical decompression. Resection of the pituitary gland causes iatrogenic hypopituitarism which requires lifelong hormonal supplementation. With an increasing number of suspected cases of pituitary diseases, there has been a paradigm shift in the management by conservative measures, especially, when surgery is not urgently needed. Case Report: We report a case of AH in a premenopausal woman presenting with headache. MRI revealed a solid-cystic mass involving the anterior lobe of the pituitary gland. The infundibulum was also thickened and enhancing; however, it was still in the midline. Ancillary MRI findings and hormonal profile were favouring the diagnosis of AH over pituitary neoplasm. The patient was managed conservatively with high doses of glucocorticoids, which resulted in prompt resolution of the lesion. During subsequent follow-up over 6 years, there was no recurrence and partial restoration of the pituitary function was seen. This case is interesting due to an unusual MRI appearance of AH, presenting as a solid-cystic mass. Moreover, disease resolution with conservative treatment strengthens the approach to limit surgery to those patients with compressive symptoms or uncertain diagnosis. Conclusions: AH should be included in the differential diagnosis of solid-cystic pituitary masses along with clinical correlation, which includes early involvement of ACTH and TSH and a relatively rapid development of hypopituitarism. In uncertain cases or with lack of compressive symptoms, a trial of steroids is worthwhile

To prevent this particularly, a system has been designed for accident location detection, accident prevention due to the upper issue of the dipper and anti-collision system. In this system, the shock sensor, ultrasonic sensor and temperature sensor are used as an input to the system along with GPS and GSM for real-time analysis and corresponding responses are analyzed; if any hazard occurs, the processing unit (Arduino) will take the appropriate action

    Hyperhomocysteinemia in recurrent pregnancy loss and the effect of folic acid and vitamin B12 on homocysteine levels: a prospective analysis

    Background: Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) affects about 5% of women. High levels of homocysteine, termed hyperhomocysteinemia, have been implicated in a number of pathologic processes in the venous and arterial vascular systems. Hyperhomocysteinemia in pregnant women has been associated with deep venous thrombosis, recurrent miscarriage, abruption placentae, preeclampsia, neural tube defects, and fetal growth restriction. This study aims at determining association between hyperhomocysteinemia and recurrent pregnancy loss and also association of folic acid (vitamin B 9) and vitamin B 12 with hyperhomocysteinemia (HHCY), in reducing its levels in the body and thus preventing obstetric complications.Methods: A prospective study of pregnant mothers booked at our hospital over a period of two years with history of unexplained RPL were included in the study and their serum homocysteine levels were assessed. Hyperhomocysteinemia (>12 micromol/l) patients were treated with folic acid and vitamin B12 supplements and homocysteine levels were assessed again, post treatment.Results: Out of the 100 patients who were assessed, 32% of RPL patients had hyperhomocysteinemia. Folic acid and VitB12 supplementation reduced homocysteine levels and this was found to be statistically significant.Conclusions: Hyperhomocysteinemia is associated with RPL. Vitamin supplementation to those with hyperhomocysteinemia, decreases homocysteine levels

    An analysis of endometrial bleeding patterns in perimenopausal women

    Background: Perimenopause is the period surrounding menopause characterized by ovulatory dysfunction and menstrual irregularities. Taking into consideration the importance of perimenopause and its consequences, we decided to study this topic in order to know the different menstrual irregularities in relation to age, the spectrum of endometrial histopathology, in relation to various gynaecological conditions as per the PALMCOEIN classification of AUB.Methods: The study population comprised of 100 women in the age group of 40- 59 years who reported to our tertiary care centre of Armed Forces for evaluation of abnormal uterine bleeding. The study was a community based cross - sectional descriptive study. Patients were examined, using one of the three techniques – Dilatation and curettage, suction aspiration and hysteroscopy and endometrial biopsy.Results: Out of the 100 women evaluated for perimenopausal bleeding, heavy menstrual bleeding was the commonest in 53% cases. The maximum no. of cases was in 40-44-year age group (57.44 %). The clinical diagnosis of fibroid uterus was found in 45% cases, AUB (O) in 36% cases, AUB (Polyp) in 8% cases, AUB (Adenomyosis) in 9% cases and AUB (Malignancy) in 2% cases. On endometrial curettage, proliferative type of endometrium was found in 43% cases, secretory type in 18% cases and hyperplasia was found in 37% cases. Out of 2 cases of atypical hyperplasia 1 case each (50%) was found in the age group of 50-54 years and 55-59 years, respectively.Conclusions: In the present study, there was good correlation between abnormal uterine bleeding, clinical diagnosis and histopathological findings

    Logarithmic corrections to finite size spectrum of SU(N) symmetric quantum chains

    We consider SU(N) symmetric one dimensional quantum chains at finite temperature. For such systems the correlation lengths, ground state energy, and excited state energies are investigated in the framework of conformal field theory. The possibility of different types of excited states are discussed. Logarithmic corrections to the ground state energy and different types of excited states in the presence of a marginal opeartor, are calculated.
