Untersuchungen zur verbesserten Guelleverwertung im Maisanbau Schlussbericht

Using application techniques specially developed for trial purposes, liquid manure was applied and incorporated in a single operation both at the time of maize sowing and during the growth of the crops. The results indicate that it is necessary to develop techniques which allow for application and incorporation of liquid manure in a single operation. In view of the high rate of N loss, a second operation is not advisable during the first hours following application. The proportioning of liquid manure must be oriented to the vegetative process characteristic of maize. This requires high standards of nitrogen availability in the soil as well as complementary N supplies since a greater wash-out risk for soil nitrogen occurs at that time.
