Technostress and disengagement from knowledge sharing: an empirical analysis
Knowledge sharing is important for organizations to generate new and innovative ideas and to
sustain competitive advantage in the volatile business environment. However, there exist various
counterproductive knowledge behaviors and, in this study, I focus on one such behaviors known
as “disengagement from knowledge sharing”. Using the Job Demands-Resources framework, I
intended to understand whether information and communication technologies (ICTs) related
phenomena in workplace setting such as technostress creators and technostress inhibitors
influence employees’ disengagement from knowledge sharing. Using online survey
methodology, I collected data from full time employees, who regularly use ICTs for their
professional tasks. The analysis was conducted with the partial least squares path modeling
method in SmartPLS software. The results show technostress creators influence disengagement
from knowledge sharing and this relationship is mediated by burnout. Finally, I also discussed
the implications, limitations, and future research directions of the study
FORMULATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF KETOROLAC TROMETHAMINE OPHTHALMIC SOLUTION
An acetic acid derivative ketorolac tromethmine has found its applicability in both gram positive and gram negative bacterial ocular infection and used commonly associated with multiple doses. Ophthalmic medication stored in multiple dose containers is required by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to contain a preservative so that patients are provided with microbe free medication. Benzalkonium chloride in concentrations from 0.1% to 0.0001% induced dose-dependent growth arrest and conjunctiva epithelial cell death, either delayed or immediately after administration. In such case, a preservative Benzalkonium chloride must be used within reasonable bound. Benzalkonium chloride can provide more help than harm. Hence the present study focusing on to formulate a formulation for ketorolac tromethmine (0.5%) ophthalmic solution using different concentration of Benzalkonium chloride as preservative. Keywords: Ketorolac tromethamine, Ophthalmic, benzalkonium chloride, conjunctiv
A Typology of Social Media Affordances during Social Movements
This research proposes a typology of social media affordances in the context of social media-enabled social movements. Social media technologies shape and facilitate the spread of such social movements by lowering individuals\u27 participation costs, increasing general accessibility to information, fostering connectivity, and creating a platform where users can generate content. We propose a typology of affordances to theorize the spread of these movements from the embryonic stage to its established stage. To do so, coalesced affordance, a new type of affordance, and the existing shared, collective, and connective affordances are used. We also integrate the role of social networks and network theory in developing the proposed typology. Finally, the study\u27s implications, limitations, and future research direction are discussed
Adoption of Open Source ERP in Small and Medium-sized Enterprises
In developing countries small and medium scale enterprises are highly important for economic growth and creating employment. But due to financial, economic and man power constraints, implementations of complex and expensive packaged software like proprietary ERP to gain operational efficiency is critical for these SMEs. In such context adoption of open source ERP can be beneficial both in terms of cost effectiveness and efficiency. Though IS literature has a rich contribution towards understanding the adoption of proprietary ERP software, very less focus has been given for open source ERP (OS ERP) implementation. To address this gap and considering the practical importance for SMEs, this research in progress paper focuses on factors that influences the adoption of OS ERP in SMEs. This paper uses the theoretical framework designed by Macredie & Mijinyawa for exploring the underlying factors and their influence on Open Source Software adoption to understand the adoption of OS ERP. This proposed framework is an extension of the Decomposed Theory of Planned Behavior specifically in the context of understanding adoption in SMEs
Technostress in organizations: A review of literature
The Technostress (TS) research is one of the emerging areas of study in Information Systems (IS) domain that has drawn significant attention in recent years among scholars and practition-ers. It is defined as the stress experienced by the end users of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). In this study, we assess the status quo of TS research in an organizational context. We further classified the studies into three different sub-sections, 1) General studies 2) TS due to specific technology 3) TS among specific professionals. Not only TS research is multi-disciplinary in nature, but also with the expeditious growth of ICTs it is widely prevalent across organizations. Hence we expect that our review of extant literature will provide meaningful in-sights to both researchers and practitioners. Our result indicates that in the organizational con-text, TS creators negatively influence various job outcomes. However, due to the mandatory use of ICTs, employees find it difficult to cope with the new and evolving technologies. Finally, we also highlight three research gaps that are theoretically significant and practically valuable to both scholars and practitioners and need further attention
A Configurational Approach to Examine Technostress Creators
The phenomenon of Technostress (TS) - the stress experienced by end-users of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs) - is often considered as a dark side of technology use. TS creators, factors that create TS, is a second-order construct with dimensions techno-overload, techno-invasion, techno-complexity, techno-insecurity, and techno-uncertainty. This study takes a holistic approach by proposing how the complex interactions among individual characteristics, IT features, and environmental factors influence employees’ perceptions of TS creators. Based on past research, we include three personality traits, i.e., neuroticism, personal innovativeness in IT, and IT mindfulness for individual characteristics. Additionally, two technological features, presenteeism and anonymity, are considered, while literacy facilitation, technical support provision, and social support are the environmental factors. Data will be collected using an online survey from full-time employees and analyzed using fuzzy sets qualitative comparative analysis (fsQCA). We also discuss the expected results and contribution of the study
Holt-Oram Syndrome in Adult Presenting with Heart Failure: A Rare Presentation
Holt-Oram syndrome is a rare inherited disorder involving the hands, arms, and the heart. The defects involve carpal bones of the wrist and the thumb and the associated cardiac anomalies like atrial or ventricular septal defects. Congenital cardiac and upper-limb malformations frequently occur together and are classified as heart-hand syndromes. The most common amongst the heart-hand disorders is the Holt-Oram syndrome, which is characterized by septal defects of the heart and preaxial radial ray abnormalities. Its incidence is one in 100,000 live births. Approximately three out of four patients have some cardiac abnormality with common associations being either an atrial septal defect or ventricular septal defect. Herein, we report a rare sporadic case of Holt-Oram syndrome with atrial septal defect with symptoms of heart failure in a forty-five-year-old lady who underwent emergency cardiac surgery for the symptoms
