Molecular gas and stars in the translucent cloud MBM 18 (LDN 1569)
Seven of ten candidate H-alpha emission-line stars found in an objective
grism survey of a 1 square degree region in MBM 18, were observed
spectroscopically. Four of these have weak H-alpha emission, and 6 out of 7
have spectral types M1-M4V. One star is of type F7-G1V, and has H-alpha in
absorption. The spectra of three of the M-stars may show an absorption line of
LiI, although none of these is an unambiguous detection. For the six M-stars a
good fit is obtained with pre-main-sequence isochrones indicating ages between
7.5 and 15Myr. The molecular cloud mass, derived from the integrated 12CO(1-0)
emission, is 160Mo (for a distance of 120pc), much smaller than the virial mass
(10^3Mo), and the cloud is not gravitationally bound. Nor are the individual
clumps we identified through a clump-finding routine. Considering the relative
weakness or absence of the H-alpha emission, the absence of other emission
lines, and the lack of clear LiI absorption, the targets are not T Tauri stars.
With ages between 7.5 and 15Myr they are old enough to explain the lack of
lithium in their spectra. Based on the derived distances (60-250pc), some of
the stars may lie inside the molecular cloud (120-150pc). From the fact that
the cloud as a whole, as well as the individual clumps, are not gravitationally
bound, in combination with the ages of the stars we conclude that it is not

Dynamics of Coherent States in Regular and Chaotic Regimes of the Non-integrable Dicke Model
The quantum dynamics of initial coherent states is studied in the Dicke model
and correlated with the dynamics, regular or chaotic, of their classical limit.
Analytical expressions for the survival probability, i.e. the probability of
finding the system in its initial state at time , are provided in the
regular regions of the model. The results for regular regimes are compared with
those of the chaotic ones. It is found that initial coherent states in regular
regions have a much longer equilibration time than those located in chaotic
regions. The properties of the distributions for the initial coherent states in
the Hamiltonian eigenbasis are also studied. It is found that for regular
states the components with no negligible contribution are organized in
sequences of energy levels distributed according to Gaussian functions. In the
case of chaotic coherent states, the energy components do not have a simple
structure and the number of participating energy levels is larger than in the

Postnatal Zika virus infection of nonhuman primate infants born to mothers infected with homologous Brazilian Zika virus
Recent data in a nonhuman primate model showed that infants postnatally infected with Zika virus (ZIKV) were acutely susceptible to high viremia and neurological damage, suggesting the window of vulnerability extends beyond gestation. In this pilot study, we addressed the susceptibility of two infant rhesus macaques born healthy to dams infected with Zika virus during pregnancy. Passively acquired neutralizing antibody titers dropped below detection limits between 2 and 3 months of age, while binding antibodies remained detectable until viral infection at 5 months. Acute serum viremia was comparatively lower than adults infected with the same Brazilian isolate of ZIKV (n = 11 pregnant females, 4 males, and 4 non-pregnant females). Virus was never detected in cerebrospinal fluid nor in neural tissues at necropsy two weeks after infection. However, viral RNA was detected in lymph nodes, confirming some tissue dissemination. Though protection was not absolute and our study lacks an important comparison with postnatally infected infants born to naive dams, our data suggest infants born healthy to infected mothers may harbor a modest but important level of protection from postnatally acquired ZIKV for several months after birth, an encouraging result given the potentially severe infection outcomes of this population
Enhancement of rare-earth--transition-metal exchange interaction in PrFe probed by inelastic neutron scattering
The fundamental magnetic interactions of PrFe are studied by
inelastic neutron scattering and anisotropy field measurements. Data analysis
confirms the presence of three magnetically inequivalent sites, and reveals an
exceptionally large value of the exchange field. The unexpected importance of
-mixing effects in the description of the ground-state properties of
PrFe is evidenced, and possible applications of related compounds
