Aseptic Orbital Cellulitis as a Complication of Suprachoroidal Hemorrhage
Suprachoroidal hemorrhage is a rare and potentially devastating clinical entity seen in individuals on anticoagulation presenting with severe unilateral eye pain, sudden vision loss, and elevated intraocular pressures. Herein, we report the first case of aseptic orbital cellulitis caused by recurrent spontaneous suprachoroidal hemorrhage. This case highlights an example of non-infectious orbital cellulitis arising from choroidal pathology in the setting of uncontrolled intraocular pressures and recurrent intraocular bleeding. Surgical intervention with blood drainage should be considered to prevent complications and preserve the globe
THE CHARACTER OF KRSTO FRANKOPAN IN THE ANONYMOUS ITALIAN EPIC POEM SAVORGNANIDE
– 1527.). U radu se analizira ideološka uvjetovanost prikaza i funkcija Krstina lika u epskoj heroizaciji člana obitelji Savorgnan. Pjesnik ističe Krstinu vojnu vještinu kako bi uveličao Girolamovu pobjedu. Međutim, pripisuje mu prijetvornost, lakomost i nepromišljenost kojima suprotstavlja Girolamovu iskrenost, velikodušnost i strpljivost. Zahvaljujući antitetičkom odnosu ovih likova, autor zadovoljava jedno od glavnih obilježja epa: pripovijedanje o sukobu dviju zajednica, pri čemu junak, autor i čitatelj dijele isti, u ovom slučaju filovenecijanski ideologem. An epic poem in the Italian language by an unknown author from the second half of the 18th century, which, in addition to the generic title Poem, suggests a possible title Savorgnanide on its cover, is preserved in the manuscript collection of the Scientific
Library in Zadar. The author presents the centuries-long rise of the Savorgnan family in the chronological order, devoting more poetic space to its most powerful members. One of these is Girolamo Savorgnan (1466–1529) due to his leading role in the Venetian defence of Friuli in the war of the League of Cambrai. On the other hand, Krsto Frankopan (ca. 1482–1527) became famous in the aforementioned war for his military skills in the army of the Emperor Maximilian of Habsburg. The essay analyses the ideological conditioning of the representation and function of Krsto’s character in the epic heroization of a member of the Savorgnan family. The poet emphasises Krsto’s military prowess to lend Girolamo’s victory more glory. However, the author attributes hypocrisy, levity, and recklessness to Krsto, which he contrasts with Girolamo’s sincerity, generosity, and patience. Due to the antithetical relationship between these two characters, the author fulfils one of the main characteristics of the epic poem: the narration of the conflict between two communities, where the hero, the author and the reader share the same, in this case, pro-Venetian ideologue
Federico Seismit-Doda’s Humorous Narration
Nel 1846 Federico Seismit-Doda (Ragusa, 1825 –
Roma, 1893), politico e patriota italiano, originario
venne fischiata. Oltre all’analisi delle numerose coincidenze
biografiche fra autore e protagonista, che
permettono di definire l’intera narrazione come autobiografica,
nel presente studio è stata approfondita
la peculiarità della strategia narrativa umoristica del
modello sterniano. L’autore ricorre a procedimenti
narrativi e retorici che fanno scattare i meccanismi
dell’umorismo, quali digressioni metanarrative, interruzioni,
parodia dei linguaggi e dei codici. In tal
dello stile umoristico. D’altronde, prendendo in considerazione
umoristica dell’Ottocento italiano.In 1846, Federico Seismit-Doda (Dubrovnik, 1825 –

consecutive issues of the Venetian periodical Il Gondoliere.
In his contribution, Seismit-Doda recounts
the (mis)fortunes of a man named Luigi Ruffoli, a
dramatist who, three years after making a successful
theatrical debut, staged a comedy that got booed by
the crowd. Apart from the analysis of the intersecting
points between the biographical details of the author
and the protagonist, based on which we can assume
that the text is autobiographical, the paper explores
the peculiarities of his humorous writing style that
emulates the Sternean model. To convey humour,
the author uses narrative techniques and rhetorical
devices such as metafiction, interruptions, and parodies
the language and conventions, thus demonstrating
his mastery of the humorous narrative. On the

Quality of Root Vegetables during Prolonged Storage
The objective of this study was to develop postharvest techniques and technologies of the most important root vegetables: carrots, celeriac and parsnip. Investigations included the effect of harvest maturity (harvest at November or January) and postharvest washing treatments (hot water, H2O2 and NaOCl and non-washed-control) of carrots (Daucus carota ’Bolero F1’), parsnip (Pastinaca sativa ‘Banatski dugi’) and celeriac (Apium graveolens var. rapaceum ‘Mentor’) roots and effects on their quantitative and qualitative changes during different storage conditions (S-1; 0°C and 98% RH or S-2; 0-2°C and 85-92% RH). Water loss and quality changes in these vegetables roots were monitored after 120 and 180 days of storage period (SP). At the end of SP the percentage of water loss ranged from 3.20% (from first harvest inside the S-1 with H2O2 treatment) in carrot to 39.29% (from first harvest inside the S-2 in control) in celeriac root. The dry matter content (DM) increased during storage period. Total sugar content (TSC) in the roots depends on year and harvest time. During SP, total sugar content increased more in S-2 cooling room. The parsnip root was characterized by more hardness texture relative to the carrot and celeriac roots. During SP carrot root loses the flexibility. The most effective method of maintaining quality of root vegetables is optimal harvest time followed by prestorage washing treatments (H2O2 or NaOCl) and storage at optimum temperature (0 ºC) with a high relative humidity 98%
