    Get PDF
The author has made a preliminary inventory of soil type that may be checked in a wide territory (160 sq.km. approx), in northwest Sardinia. The inventory, pubblished in 1/100000 scale, allows the ricogition of 16 subgroups of soils (Soil Taxonomy), assembled in 9 map units. The inventory shows that the map units are arranged in parallel belts to the coast line and exist a correlation between soil units and agricultural use. Some of the soil units. Psammentic Palexeralfs. Typic and Lithic Rhodoxeralfs, are very important in regional climatic recostitution because they show past climatic conditions different from the contemporary ones

The author has valued the suitability for agricultural pratices and for pasture improvements for the municipal territory of Sindia (Nu) in the central western Sardinia, by a methodology, came from the FAO Framework for Land Evaluation, introduced by Sardinian agency for agricultural improvements, Ersat

This paper reports on the pedological features on some examined in the Gennargentu National Park area (Nuoro-Italy). The soils are observed on different conditions of parent materials (granite, phyllite, and schistose sandstones), morphologicals features, vegetable covering and land use

Indagine geomorfologica e pedagogica dell'area La Corte (Nurra, Sardegna): brevi note illustrative della carta pedagogica

The author has made a first inventory of soil tipe that may be checked in a wide territory, 4250 he approx, in north-west Sardinia. This area is called «La Corte» (I.G.M. 179 II SO). The inventory, executed in 1/25.000 scale, allows the ricognition of 15 subgroups of soil, (Soil Taxonomy), assembled in 9 map units. The soil of the map units G, H and I are very important in the La Corte landscape, they now occupy 45% of the surface. These soils belong of the Typic, Ultic and Aquic Palexeralfs subgroups, have been developed out of Pliocenic alluvial sediments. The author, thanks, to new study and informations about the alluvial sediments, foresees to complete soil classifications and foresees to characterize the effects of the pliocenic floods over the pedogenetic processo

The author has made use the field morphology rating scale for evaluating pedological development by Bilzi and Ciolkosz, in some north sardinian soils. The method and the results, of this first application, are briefly delineated

    Get PDF
The author has made a Land Capability sistem for Sardinian's pasture land. This sistem can be a first guidelines for pasture land's evaluation in order to correct political intervention in agriculture

Soil consumption by urbanisation: a case study in northern Sardinia (Italy)

    Get PDF
The aim of this short communication is to present a case study of competition between urbanisation, environment and agriculture for the Alghero municipality, a coastal Mediterranean area where a high urban growth has taken place during the last 50 years

Soil quality evaluation under agro-silvo-pastoral Mediterranean management systems

According to Franzluebber (2002) the degree of stratification of soil organic C and N, as well as other parameters, with soil depth, expressed as a ratio, can indicate soil quality or soil ecosystem functioning and sustainability under different agricultural management. Stratification ratios > 2 indicate a higher soil quality and contribution to agriculture sustainability. A case study from northeastern Sardinia (Italy) is presented

Paleoenvironmental implications through the study of an Eemian paleosol in northwestern Sardinia (Italy)

    Get PDF
The aim of this work is to define the paleoenvironmental changes related to a soil belonging to the studied succession, by means of an in-depth micromorphological study. In particular, the presence of this paleosol is associated to the fast climatic fluctuations that took place between MIS5e and MIS5c

Polygenetic evolution and bioturbation: micromorphological study of a Terra Rossa soil in a traditional olive crop (Sardinia, Italy)

The origin of Mediterranean red soils has been the subject of numerous studies. Complex genetic processes, and massive inputs of allochtonous materials such as wind-blown Saharan dust and volcanic ashes, have been advocated to interpret their genesis. The present study was carried out in a traditional olive grove nearby Sassari (Sardinia, Italy), where the land use remained unchanged for the last 150 years, on Terra Rossa developed on Miocene marine limestone
