Using the GP2X framework for center-of-mass energy precision studies at Higgs factories
Two channels for measuring the absolute center-of-mass energy, ,
and collision beam energies, and , are investigated for future
Higgs factories. These two channels of DiMuons and Bhabhas are
simulated in event generators and a new fast Monte Carlo, GP2X, has been
developed to boost the events into the lab frame, and thus include luminosity
spectrum effects from beamstrahlung and beam energy spread. GP2X also includes
tracker and ECAL detector resolution effects. The performance of GP2X with
WHIZARD, as GP2WHIZ, is found to be statistically consistent with iLCSoft while
GP2X with KKMC, as GP2KKMC, is consistent within 3\%. We use the design concept
for the ILC at GeV and ILD. Taking advantage of ILD's
high-precision tracker we find precision near the 1-10 MeV level for all of
, for a 100~ dataset. This is done using a
new six parameter Beta distribution convolved with Gaussian fit. A Fourier
transform deconvolution method with Savitzky-Golay filtering is used to improve
the fitting of detector level data. Feasibility of these measurements will
depend on future studies and detector calibration.Comment: 16 pages, 8 figures, 2 tables, LCWS 2023 Proceeding
Center-of-mass energy determination using to events at future colliders
Methods for measuring the absolute center-of-mass energy, , and its
distribution, are investigated for future Higgs-factory colliders
using in situ collisions. We emphasize the potential of an estimator
based on the measurement of muon momenta that we denote . It can be
determined with high precision in to () events
while being sensitive to effects from beam energy spread, beamstrahlung,
initial-state radiation (ISR), final-state radiation (FSR), crossing angle, and
detector resolution. The measurement precision is enabled by a high-precision
low-mass tracker; the reported performance estimates are based on full
simulation of the tracker response of the ILD detector concept for the ILC
operating at GeV. The underlying statistical precision is 1.9
ppm for a 2.0 ab dataset at ILC. The ultimate utility will depend
largely on how well one can calibrate and maintain the tracker momentum scale.Comment: 30 pages; Submitted to the Proceedings of the US Community Study on

HEADS, TAILS, AND SPINES: BOOK ART FROM CCA STUDENTS exhibition documentation
Book art can range from a simple zine to a unique altered book, a folded
piece of handmade paper to a handcrafted and letterpress printed edition,
and everything in between and beyond. Visual imagery may be generated
through photography, illustration, graphic design, textile, and printmaking
techniques and may feature poems, stories, and research. Students from all
majors come together to learn how to make books in two classes offered by
the Printmaking Program at CCA: Bookworks; and Papermaking and the Book.
The exhibition highlighted selected book art created in classes
taught by Alisa Golden and Rhiannon Alpers during the spring semester of 2017
The International Linear Collider: Report to Snowmass 2021
The International Linear Collider (ILC) is on the table now as a new global energy-frontier accelerator laboratory taking data in the 2030s. The ILC addresses key questions for our current understanding of particle physics. It is based on a proven accelerator technology. Its experiments will challenge the Standard Model of particle physics and will provide a new window to look beyond it. This document brings the story of the ILC up to date, emphasizing its strong physics motivation, its readiness for construction, and the opportunity it presents to the US and the global particle physics community
