    Get PDF
In this paper a portable solution to the problem of adulteration in diesel is proposed. Techniques for checking adulteration in fuel are common. But, the biggest disadvantage of these is that these are lab based and hence require sophisticated testing and analysis in laboratories. The method that is proposed in this paper a portable apparatus that can be directly fitted in vehicles and adulteration can be checked on the go. The method employed uses polarimetry as the basis for sensing adulteration. The apparatus was designed after careful deliberation on various techniques that could be used for checking adulteration in diesel by kerosene. The proposed apparatus uses optical properties of the fuel samples to give the results

Smart Connectivity for Automotive Head Unit

    Get PDF
In-vehicle infotainment (IVI), is a combination of entertainment and information. The higher end, luxury automobiles incorporate safety and connectivity along with the advanced audio/visual entertainment. The future of car radio includes integration of more comfort maximizing features meanwhile ensuring safety of the drivers and passengers. The major safety concern for a driver is the distraction due to the cell phone usage during driving. The driver of the car is deprived of his independence of using cell phone due to safety reasons. This can be resolved if the applications on the mobile phone can be used on the car’s head unit. The feature which allows this implementation is Smart Device Link (SDL). SDL is an innovation in the automobile industry. The basic requirement of this feature is that the car radio’s display unit should have a touch screen head unit. SDL can be integrated into any vehicle’s system to provide communication to a mobile application, with the condition that the mobile application itself is also SDL capable. By SDL capable we mean to say that the mobile application should be compatible with the vehicle’s head unit (HU). SDL manages the transport, connection and communication between a head unit and mobile device. DOI: 10.17762/ijritcc2321-8169.15056

Systemic review on Shirodhara and mode of action of Takradhara in Psoriasis

    Get PDF
In Ayurvedic classics, Shirodhara therapy is indicated in mainly Vata- Pitta disorders; it gives good results in stress related lifestyle disorders like ulcerative colitis, hypertension, psoriasis & other psychosomatic diseases etc. Kushtha in general and Ekakushtha particularly has excessive accumulation of Doshas and is Chirakari in nature. Considering the psychosomatic nature of the disease and the role of stress as the most common predisposing factor for psoriasis, Takradhara therapy is mostly used in psoriasis in practice. As various studies conducted on Dhara therapy, specifically Takradhara have shown significant role in relieving the stress induced disorders. Continuous pouring of Shirodhara on fore-head for a specific period has Tranquilizing effect & regulates rhythm Mana & Prana Vayu it also induces Sleep

Studies on Extraction, Microencapsulation and Potential Applications of Ginger Oleoresin

685-691The aim of this study is to develop stable formulations of ginger oleoresin using microencapsulation and emulsification technology. Different formulations of microencapsulated ginger oleoresin were formulated using spray drying technique. The advantage of encapsulation is that the formulations are water soluble unlike the oleoresin; which helps in reducing the use of solvents and promotes the use of natural product and widens its application range. The wall materials like polyvinylpyrrolidone (PVP) and maltodextrin (MD) showed the maximum encapsulation efficiency of 81.043%. The flow properties of microencapsulated powder were studied by analyzing the compressibility index and Hausner ratio for different combination of wall materials. The optimization of microemulsion was studied using pseudo-ternary phase diagram and the microemulsion with the maximum area was found in 3:1 (Surfactant: Co-Surfactant) ratio of Tween80- Propylene Glycol with caprylic-capric triglycerides as the oil phase and rest is the water phase. The ginger oleoresin diffusion study was carried out using Franz diffusion cell to study the active permeability, and stability of the formulations

Genetic gains in tropical maize hybrids across moisture regimes with multi-trait-based index selection

    Get PDF
Unpredictable weather vagaries in the Asian tropics often increase the risk of a series of abiotic stresses in maize-growing areas, hindering the efforts to reach the projected demands. Breeding climate-resilient maize hybrids with a cross-tolerance to drought and waterlogging is necessary yet challenging because of the presence of genotype-by-environment interaction (GEI) and the lack of an efficient multi-trait-based selection technique. The present study aimed at estimating the variance components, genetic parameters, inter-trait relations, and expected selection gains (SGs) across the soil moisture regimes through genotype selection obtained based on the novel multi-trait genotype–ideotype distance index (MGIDI) for a set of 75 tropical pre-released maize hybrids. Twelve traits including grain yield and other secondary characteristics for experimental maize hybrids were studied at two locations. Positive and negative SGs were estimated across moisture regimes, including drought, waterlogging, and optimal moisture conditions. Hybrid, moisture condition, and hybrid-by-moisture condition interaction effects were significant (p ≤ 0.001) for most of the traits studied. Eleven genotypes were selected in each moisture condition through MGIDI by assuming 15% selection intensity where two hybrids, viz., ZH161289 and ZH161303, were found to be common across all the moisture regimes, indicating their moisture stress resilience, a unique potential for broader adaptation in rainfed stress-vulnerable ecologies. The selected hybrids showed desired genetic gains such as positive gains for grain yield (almost 11% in optimal and drought; 22% in waterlogging) and negative gains in flowering traits. The view on strengths and weaknesses as depicted by the MGIDI assists the breeders to develop maize hybrids with desired traits, such as grain yield and other yield contributors under specific stress conditions. The MGIDI would be a robust and easy-to-handle multi-trait selection process under various test environments with minimal multicollinearity issues. It was found to be a powerful tool in developing better selection strategies and optimizing the breeding scheme, thus contributing to the development of climate-resilient maize hybrids

Synthesis and Optimization of Rhamnolipids from Tree Borne Oils and Fats for Cosmetics Applications

    Get PDF
Rhamnolipids are bio-surfactants with strong surface active characteristics. These are potential additives for cosmetic formulations. The production of these molecules is possible through various routes, however, their synthesis from renewable sources using bio-agents can be environment friendly and economical. Studies on bacteria are in focus for the development of rhamnolipid bio-surfactant. Pseudomonas aeruginosa is one of the bacteria being studied in depth because of its efficiency to form rhamnolipids from a range of carbon, nitrogen, substrate sources, such as tree borne oils, modified fats and blends. The rhamnolipid synthesis process was improved using response surface approach. The produced rhamnolipid has been used for preparing a cosmetic formulation. The product has shown good stability. The current study's findings indicated that the use of mathematical modeling is extremely successful in determining optimum reaction conditions and increasing the yield of a specific bio-process

Watermarking is the most imperative innovation for installing (Adding) concealed picture into the information picture with the assistance of different calculations. Due to this feature of watermarking now days it is gaining lot of attraction. Now a day for preventing duplication an image is embedded in the information. In various applications such as Digital audio, video, and images a hidden copyright images is inserted into the original data. In this paper for inserting computerized watermark into the objective picture an anchored procedure is proposed. The proposed calculation will perform imperceptible watermarking of picture in spatial space. The Key is embedded in the original image and it will transfer to the receiver. At the receiver end the key is extracted using proposed algorithm. Various observationsare done on the image like peak signal to mean noise ratio (PSNR).PSNR is comes out to bethe Peak-SNR value is 20.4082, The Signal to Noise ratio (SNR) value is 14.8358 for the Gaussian noise for zero mean and 0.01 variance. The Peak-SNR value is 18.9910, The SNR value is 13.4185 for the salt and pepperfor0.04 correlation coefficient
