Life cycle cost analysis of Europe‒Asia transportation systems

    Get PDF
The effectiveness of East-West rail transportation systems significantly depends on the track gauge change from 1435 mm to 1520 mm, which requires complicated handling-shifting operations. Comparative analysis of hazardous materials transport, among others using SUW 2000 system of self-adjusted wheel-sets, was based on the established effectiveness model (LCC analysis). The analysis pointed out both economic effects and the application’s restrictions in assumed and presented variants

Forecasting of Warranty Returns Based on the Reliability of Delivery Assessment

    Get PDF
The paper presents a method to evaluate the reliability of deliveries with the application of Reliasoft Weibull++ software. The first stage in the proposed method was to collect data on outbound deliveries on a monthly basis and convert them into reliability data (life data). Next, by combining selected statistical tests and the maximum likelihood estimation method, the most accurate model of reliability of deliveries was obtained. Using the model which was generated, selected reliability indices were determined, such as: reliability of deliveries, unreliability of deliveries, failure rate of deliveries. Consequently, the number of future failed deliveries was forecast, taking into account the confidence bounds. The approach presented may be easily applied in companies in the logistics sector. The authors underlined that the reliability of deliveries is one of the key factors determining business competitiveness

Predicting the Probability of Cargo Theft for Individual Cases in Railway Transport

    Get PDF
In the heavy industry, the value of cargo transported by rail is very high. Due to high value, poor security and volume of rail transport, the theft cases are often. The main problem of securing rail transport is predicting the location of a high probability of risk. Because of this, the aim of the presented research was to predict the highest probability of rail cargo theft for areas. It is important to prevent theft cases by better securing the railway lines. To solve that problem the authors\u27 model was developed. The model uses information about past transport cases for the learning process of Artificial Neural Networks (ANN) and Machine Learning (ML).The ANN predicted the probability for 94.7% of the cases of theft and the Machine Learning identified 100% of the cases. This method can be used to develop a support system for securing the rail infrastructure

W artykule przedstawiono ocenę efektywności modernizacji lokomotywy spalinowej serii SM42 w wariancie 6Dg. Ocenę efektywności w porównaniu do niezmodernizowanej lokomotywy dokonano w oparciu o analizę kosztu cyklu trwałości (analizę LCC).The paper presents effectiveness evaluation of modernization of the diesel locomotive SM42 series in 6Dg version. Eflectiveness evaluation based on the Life Cycle Cost Analysis (LCC analysis) was carried out in comparison to the no modernized locomotive

Examination of selected geometrical parameters of wheelsets of electric multiple unit

The aim of the work is to investigate changes in the values of selected geometrical parameters of electric multiple unit (EMU) wheelsets as a function of mileage. Based on the conducted analysis of the literature, it was found that the problem of proper diagnostics and maintenance of wheelsets, as an element that directly affects the level of safety of railway vehicle traffic, is very up-to-date and justified. This work presents the characteristics of the geometrical parameters of the wheelset that were subjected to the tests. According to the terminology of EN 13715:2020-12, the geometrical parameters of the wheelset subjected to tests were characterized. As part of the research work, data from measurements of the values of the main geometrical parameters of the outer contour of the wheelsets were collected and systematized from 204 measurement sheets of vehicles. Data were collected from specially developed registers and databases. The research and analyses confirm the existence of a correlation between changes in the values of diagnostic characteristics of flange thickness and height and flange steepness as a function of kilometrage. The intensity of wheel rim wear changes depending on the conditions under which the vehicle is operated. The wheelsets’ diagnostic characteristics were not fully predictable, which makes it difficult to forecast their future values. Based on the obtained results, actions that increase the durability of the wheels were proposed. For example, it is reasonable to assign vehicles to different routes so that the wheel rims wear evenly, eliminating the need for the subsequent accumulation of repairs and wheelset replacements before repair at the P4 level. Moreover, it is advisable to undertake work on the change of identification of basic individual primary characteristics of the wheel’s external contour into primary characteristics of a collective nature. As a result of such action, it is possible o indicate the probability of occurrence of non-uniformity of values of diagnostic characteristics on the wheel circumference could be limited and the phenomenon of occurrence of measurement errors could be minimized

Change in the maintenance strategy as a method of improving the efficiency of the process of operation of railway means of transport

    No full text
The paper presents a description of methods of changing the maintenance strategy concerning measures of intervals between maintenance levels based on the example of a selected railway vehicle type. The process starts with monitoring the vehicle after it is put into operation and the operational database is built, through the statistical and RAMS analyses, to the approval of changes in the maintenance system documentation by qualified railway safety bodies. Following the applicable formal and legal requirements, one of the key problems involved in the introduction of changes in the railway vehicle maintenance system is an assessment of the proposed changes for safety
