An exception that proves the rule: recurrence free survival five years after extrapleural pneumonectomy for malignant pleural mesothelioma.
Are case reports at all relevant and useful? A case report of an unusual case of mesothelioma prompts a discussion and concludes that they do have a role but that their observations and conclusions need to be treated with care
The GILDA trial finds no survival benefit from intensified screening after primary resection of colorectal cancer: the PulMiCC trial tests the survival benefit of pulmonary metastasectomy for detected asymptomatic lung metastases
Local treatment of 'Oligometastases': Wishful thinking is not supported by available evidence
The evidence for surgical interventions: Lung metastasectomy outcomes in the PulMiCC trial, an observational cohort study, and big data analysis

Gaining acceptance of innovative ideas can be an uphill struggle, but convincing practitioners to discontinue ineffective therapies can be even more difficult. And in fairness to the many PulMiCC trialists (Pulmonary Metastasectomy in Colorectal Cancer) their hard-won evidence should be considered more thoughtfully, rather than dismissed in a few words with an outdated citation
The course of lung oligometastatic colorectal cancer may be a reflection of selection for treatment rather than an effect of stereotactic body radiotherapy
