A high temperature superconducting homopolar inductor machine (HTS-HIM) is optimally designed considering the effect of magnetic field on HTS coil in this paper. Firstly, the structure and operation principle of HTS-HIM are presented. The three-dimensional HTS-HIM finite element analysis model and two-dimensional axisymmetric direct coupling model of HTS-HIM based on T-A formulation are established. Secondly, the excitation window parameters, the excitation current and number of turns of HTS coil are optimized, taking into account the HTS-HIM performance and the safety of HTS coil. Thirdly, the magnetic field weakening capabilities of the U-shaped flux diverter and copper layer are analyzed and their parameters are optimized. Finally, the optimal design scheme and the critical current of HTS coil in HTS-HIM are obtained

Interferon-γ-Induced Intestinal Epithelial Barrier Dysfunction by NF-κB/HIF-1α Pathway

Interferon-? (IFN-?) plays an important role in intestinal barrier dysfunction. However, the mechanisms are not fully understood. As hypoxia-inducible factor-1 (HIF-1) is a critical determinant response to hypoxia and inflammation, which has been shown to be deleterious to intestinal barrier function, we hypothesized that IFN-? induces loss of barrier function through the regulation of HIF-1α activation and function. In this study, we detected the expressions of HIF-1α and tight junction proteins in IFN-?-treated T84 intestinal epithelial cell line. IFN-? led to an increase of HIF-1α expression in time- and dose-dependent manners but did not change the expression of HIF-1?. The IFN-?-induced increase in HIF-1α was associated with an activation of NF-?B. Treatment with the NF-?B inhibitor, pyrolidinedithiocarbamate (PDTC), significantly suppressed the activation of NF-?B and the expression of HIF-1α. In addition, IFN-? also increased intestinal epithelial permeability and depletion of tight junction proteins; inhibition of NF-?B or HIF-1α prevented the increase in intestinal permeability and alteration in tight junction protein expressions. Interestingly, we demonstrated that a significant portion of IFN-? activation NF-kB and modulation tight junction expression is mediated through HIF-1α. Taken together, this study suggested that IFN-? induced the loss of epithelial barrier function and disruption of tight junction proteins, by upregulation of HIF-1α expression through NF-?B pathway.Peer Reviewedhttps://deepblue.lib.umich.edu/bitstream/2027.42/140108/1/jir.2013.0044.pd

Breast cancer is associated with coronary heart disease: a cross-sectional survey of NHANES 1999–2018

BackgroundUnderstanding the correlation between female breast cancer (BC) and the prevalence of coronary heart disease (CHD) is important for developing prevention strategies and reducing the burden of female social disease. This study aimed to evaluate the relationship between BC and CHD using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) database from 1999 to 2018.MethodsThe study cohort included 16,149 eligible non-pregnant female participants aged 20 years or older. Logistic regression was used to analyze the relationship between BC and CHD, excluding the interaction between covariates and BC through hierarchical subgroup analysis.ResultsThe study found that participants with BC had a 2.30 times greater risk of developing CHD compared to those without BC [95% confidence interval (CI): 2.29–2.31]. After adjusting for all included covariates, BC was still significantly associated with CHD risk (odds ratio: 1.11, 95% CI: 1.10–1.12). When participants were stratified by age, education level, and prevalence of hypertension, it was evident that participants with BC had a higher risk of developing CHD compared to those without BC, although the effect of BC on CHD varied across stratification.ConclusionsOur study demonstrates the close relationship between CHD and female BC. Therefore, it is necessary to screen patients with CHD for BC and monitor BC survivors for the long-term risk of developing CHD

Design of HTS Excitation Coil for Homopolar Inductor Machine Considering Critical Current Reduction of Local Turn

The high temperature superconducting homopolar inductor machine (HTS-HIM) is identified as a promising candidate for the high-speed field of superconducting machine. The reliability and performance of HTS-HIM is closely related to the critical current of its HTS excitation coil. However, the critical current is limited by the turn with the highest risk of quench, which means that not all the turns of HTS coil can achieve the best performance. Targeting ensures the reliability of HTS-HIM and enhance the utilization rate of HTS tape, the HTS coil is designed considering the critical current reduction of local turn in this paper. Firstly, the operation principle of HTS-HIM is illustrated, and the design process is given. Then, the feasibility of calculating critical current using constant sweep rate method is described, and the HTS coil of a 10 kW HTS-HIM is designed utilizing the MAX criterion. Thirdly, the external field of the HTS coil is analyzed based on the simplified model of HTS-HIM. According to the external field distribution, an easily installed L-shaped flux diverter is proposed to suppress critical current reduction of local turn of HTS coil. The results show that the current safety margin is increased by 24 % at the cost of very little extra loss and weight through the proposed method

Environmental factors in time and space play a critical role in advancing the sustainable development of the fresh agricultural product supply chain. This paper, availing the panel data of 31 Chinese provinces from 2008 to 2019, constructs a system of indicators assessing the development of the fresh agricultural product supply chain, and obtains the comprehensive development level in the Entropy Weight Method (EWM). Furthermore, it establishes a comparison between optimal solutions generated by the Instrumental Variables Method (IVM) and the Generalized Method of Moments (GMM) over the endogeneity issue of variables, creates the comparison between the weighted regression methods of Geographically Weighted Regression (GWR) and Multi-scale Geographic Weighted Regression (MGWR), and obtains the relationship among the 14 environmental factors in their spatio-temporal impacts on the development of the fresh agricultural product supply chain. The results indicate that: (1) the environmental influencing factors in this paper have significant endogenous problems and various environmental factors impact on the fresh agricultural product supply chain in different trends and to different degrees. (2) With different bandwidths, the environmental factors could impact the fresh agricultural product supply chain to greatly varied degrees, demonstrating a strong attribute of regional correlation
