Utilizing the Updated Gamma-Ray Bursts and Type Ia Supernovae to Constrain the Cardassian Expansion Model and Dark Energy
We update gamma-ray burst (GRB) luminosity relations among certain spectral
and light-curve features with 139 GRBs. The distance modulus of 82 GRBs at
can be calibrated with the sample at by using the cubic
spline interpolation method from the Union2.1 Type Ia supernovae (SNe Ia) set.
We investigate the joint constraints on the Cardassian expansion model and dark
energy with 580 Union2.1 SNe Ia sample () and 82 calibrated GRBs data
(). In CDM, we find that adding 82 high-\emph{z} GRBs to
580 SNe Ia significantly improves the constrain on
plane. In the Cardassian expansion model, the
best fit is and
, which is consistent with the CDM cosmology in the
confidence region. We also discuss two dark energy models in which
the equation of state is parametrized as and
, respectively. Based on our analysis, we see that our
Universe at higher redshift up to is consistent with the concordance
model within confidence level.Comment: 17 pages, 6 figures, 2 tables; accepted for publication in Advances

Decorrelation of Neutral Vector Variables: Theory and Applications
In this paper, we propose novel strategies for neutral vector variable
decorrelation. Two fundamental invertible transformations, namely serial
nonlinear transformation and parallel nonlinear transformation, are proposed to
carry out the decorrelation. For a neutral vector variable, which is not
multivariate Gaussian distributed, the conventional principal component
analysis (PCA) cannot yield mutually independent scalar variables. With the two
proposed transformations, a highly negatively correlated neutral vector can be
transformed to a set of mutually independent scalar variables with the same
degrees of freedom. We also evaluate the decorrelation performances for the
vectors generated from a single Dirichlet distribution and a mixture of
Dirichlet distributions. The mutual independence is verified with the distance
correlation measurement. The advantages of the proposed decorrelation
strategies are intensively studied and demonstrated with synthesized data and
practical application evaluations
A MPPT Method based on Improved Fibonacci Search Photovoltaic Array
The P-U curve of photovoltaic arrays (PVAs) has multi-peak characteristics under uneven illumination environments, and the maximum power point tracking (MPPT) strategy for the single peak may fail. An improved Fibonacci search algorithm is proposed to carry out MPPT of photovoltaic arrays under uniform illumination or light mutation. A multiple-interval search algorithm based on a circuit analysis method is presented for different topology arrays and illumination distributions. The series array analysis adopts the current analysis method, the parallel array analysis adopts the voltage analysis method, and the series and parallel array analysis adopts the current and voltage analysis method; then, the output control volume is determined, and the search interval is divided. The search steps in the Fibonacci method and the real-time changes of parameters in the optimization process can be observed by MATLAB simulation. Experimental results show that the algorithm uses less computation time and small area search instead of global search
Mapping codon usage of the translation initiation region in porcine reproductive and respiratory syndrome virus genome

Abstract

Background

Porcine reproductive and respitatory syndrome virus (PRRSV) is a recently emerged pathogen and severely affects swine populations worldwide. The replication of PRRSV is tightly controlled by viral gene expression and the codon usage of translation initiation region within each gene could potentially regulate the translation rate. Therefore, a better understanding of the codon usage pattern of the initiation translation region would shed light on the regulation of PRRSV gene expression.

Results

In this study, the codon usage in the translation initiation region and in the whole coding sequence was compared in PRRSV ORF1a and ORFs2-7. To investigate the potential role of codon usage in affecting the translation initiation rate, we established a codon usage model for PRRSV translation initiation region. We observed that some non-preferential codons are preferentially used in the translation initiation region in particular ORFs. Although some positions vary with codons, they intend to use codons with negative CUB. Furthermore, our model of codon usage showed that the conserved pattern of CUB is not directly consensus with the conserved sequence, but shaped under the translation selection.

Conclusions

The non-variation pattern with negative CUB in the PRRSV translation initiation region scanned by ribosomes is considered the rate-limiting step in the translation process.</p
