Electronic Security Implications of NEC: A Tactical Battlefield Scenario

    No full text
In [1] three principal themes are identified by the UK MoD (Ministry of Defence) in order to deliver the vision of NEC (Network Enabled Capability): Networks, People and Information. It is the security of information, which is discussed in this article. The drive towards NEC is due to many factors; one defining factor is to provide an increase in operational tempo in effect placing one ahead of their enemy in terms of acting within their OODA (Observe, Orient, Decide, Act) loop. However as technical and procedural systems are being advanced to achieve the vision of NEC, what impact does this have on the traditional information security triangle, of preserving the confidentiality, integrity and availability of information? And how does this influence current security engineering and accreditation practices, particularly in light of the proliferation problem? This article describes research conducted into answering these questions, building upon the findings of the NITEworks® [2] ISTAR (Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance) Theme studies and focusing on a tactical battlefield scenario. This scenario relates to the IFPA (Indirect Fire Precision Attack) [3] project where the efficient synchronisation of potentially numerous sources of information is required, providing real-time decisions and delivery of effects, in accordance with the requirements of NEC. It is envisaged that the IFPA systems will consist of numerous sub-systems each of which will provide a unique effecting capability to the UK army with differing levels of speed, accuracy and range

The aim of this paper is simply to describe the content of a book by Abu Bakr Muhammad Ibn Ishaq Ibn Khuazaymah al-Nisaburi al-Shafi?i called Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah. The book deals mainly with the tradition of the prophet. A deeper analysis on the book however reveals that it also contains a fairly good exposition of fiqh and its general rules. In this paper we would try to unlock this aspect of the book and find out how the discursive interaction between hadith and fiqh takes place in it. Our approach is critical in that it will question the validity of some hadith under investigation. We believe that not all hadiths in the book are valid and authentic

This article will also be more focussed by study of hadits which have been studied by ceremony of Nadwah Mudzakarah which presents hadits.  It is way of motion for sujud by prioritize hand assessed by dhaif (weak). Thereby, it is expected by people who get hold assuring for its deed of him. Beforehand, need of methodologies clarified determine status of deliverer of hadits if which is pertinent to be assessed by al-jarh (negative) meanwhile he is also assessed by al-ta'dil (positive). this study of writer relate to go down good bestowing (sujud) of first opinion and also second weakening weight, hence temporarily we decide when going down we may not put down hand in advance from knee or on the contrary, its meaning, no way special which we must do. It seems, this fatwah submitted because Nadwah fail to look for manual which is shahih, but why giving sect solution of al-tanwi' or hiyar. We may select; choose between two opinions in front. Though this competent solution on the market predict all real correct manuals or shahih. Like parallel hands up until shoulder or lifted higher a little. In problem of religious service more than anything else religious service of tauqifiyah bargain which is competent to be given its prohibition without existence of unvalidible

Point-of-care C reactive protein for the diagnosis of lower respiratory tract infection in NHS primary care: a qualitative study of barriers and facilitators to adoption

OBJECTIVES: Point-of-care (POC) C reactive protein (CRP) is incorporated in National Institute of Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines for the diagnosis of pneumonia, reduces antibiotic prescribing and is cost effective. AIM: To determine the barriers and facilitators to adoption of POC CRP testing in National Health Service (NHS) primary care for the diagnosis of lower respiratory tract infection. DESIGN: The study followed a qualitative methodology based on grounded theory. The study was undertaken in 2 stages. Stage 1 consisted of semistructured interviews with 8 clinicians from Europe and the UK who use the test in routine practice, and focused on their subjective experience in the challenges of implementing POC CRP testing. Stage 2 was a multidisciplinary-facilitated workshop with NHS stakeholders to discuss barriers to adoption, impact of adoption and potential adoption scenarios. Emergent theme analysis was undertaken. PARTICIPANTS: Participants included general practitioners (including those with commissioning experience), biochemists, pharmacists, clinical laboratory scientists and industry representatives from the UK and abroad. RESULTS: Barriers to the implementation of POC CRP exist, but successful adoption has been demonstrated abroad. Analysis highlighted 7 themes: reimbursement and incentivisation, quality control and training, laboratory services, practitioner attitudes and experiences, effects on clinic flow and workload, use in pharmacy and gaps in evidence. CONCLUSIONS: Successful adoption models from the UK and abroad demonstrate a distinctive pattern and involve collaboration with central laboratory services. Incorporating antimicrobial stewardship into quality improvement frameworks may incentivise adoption. Further research is needed to develop scaling-up strategies to address the resourcing, clinical governance and economic impact of widespread NHS implementation
