Thermal expansion studies on ferroelectric materials

    No full text
Thermal expansion data is reported over a wide temperature range (80-800 K) for BaTiO3(BT)BaTiO_3 (BT) and Pb(Fe1/2Nb1/2)O3(PFN)Pb(Fe_{1/2}Nb_{1/2})O_3 (PFN), belonging to different classes of ferroelectric materials. The sharp structural phase transitions of BT result in lowering of the thermal expansion coefficient (α) at the transitions which is proportional to the change in polarization at the transitions. In PFN, a relaxor ferroelectric, lowering of α is spread over a wider temperature range across the dielectric maxim

Studies in sesquiterpenes—XXIV *1: Synthesis of (±)-cadinene dihydrochloride

A total synthesis of (±)-4-isopropyl-trans-decalin-1,6-dione, a key intermediate in the cadinane series, and its conversion into (±)-cadinene dihydrochloride, is reported

K x-ray satellite spectrum of Al by photon excitation

    No full text
K x-ray satellite spectra of Al in the element and its oxide Al(2)O(3), generated by photon excitation, have been studied with a plane crystal spectrometer. The energies and relative intensities of the K(alpha) x-ray satellite and K(beta) low-energy satellite have been measured and compared with theoretical estimates. The results in the element and its oxide are compared to look for chemical effects
