ORWINE: towards a European regulation for organic wine-making
The project aims at solving the legislative problem of the lack of EU regulation on organic wine-making by producing a scientific data set to support the EU commission to develop the legislative framework. Data about currently applied practices, consumer and market needs in significant areas were gathered in all significant wine producing areas of EU and some new member states. Test series with suitable and innovative technologies to improve the quality of wines from organic viticulture, allowing using a low level of sulphites are conducted and validated on selected pilot wineries. Moreover the results and regulatory proposals are discussed with a participatory approach with stakeholders on national levels as well as on European level, ensuring a high acceptance of the proposed legislative framework. Besides a code of best practices as well as a simplified environment assessment tool will be developed to give guidance to produce high quality wine while limiting the impact on the environment
Developing A Bus Ticket Reservation Web Application At PT. Setia Jiwana Sakti
This paper describes the development of an online ticket reservation application that integrates and automates current business processes throughout multiple branches of a bus transportation service provider operating across the border of neighboring countries. Utilizing the versatility of the current web technology, the application also adds new values to the company’s business process; enabling it to provide customers with services that is not limited to physical boundaries such as location and time. The web application is developed using PHP and utilizes MySQL
Controlling risks of pathogen transmission by flies on organic pig farms - A review
Fly prevention and control on animal production units is necessary to prevent the transmission of pathogens that could affect animal and human health and the maintenance of good hygiene. Organic farmers are often hesitant to apply insecticides for this purpose because of their farming philosophy. Organic production systems are relatively open as pigs generally have access to the outdoors. Here, we investigate the need for fly control and analyse various possibilities that organic farmers have to reduce the number of flies on their farms. We conclude that although biological control looks promising, more research should be done concerning its side effects. Currently, optimal monitoring and prevention seem to offer the best solution
Deformations of zero-dimensional schemes and applications
In this thesis we consider the geometry of the Hilbert scheme of points in
P^n, concentrating on the locus of points corresponding to the Gorenstein
subschemes of P^n. New results are given, most importantly we provide tools for
constructing flat families and analysis of finite Gorenstein algebras and
expose their efficiency by proving smoothability of certain families of
algebras. Much of the existing theory and folklore is reviewed, providing a
micro-encyclopaedic reference.Comment: v2: some minor corrections made. 29 pages. This is an MSc thesis done

Post-Discharge Nutrition Care Instructions for Malnourished Adults
Malnutrition remains an insidious yet common ailment among hospitalized adults, with prevalence estimates ranging from 4-45%. Multiple studies confirm the adverse effects of malnutrition, which include prolonged length of stay, readmissions, higher hospitalization costs, and mortality. Malnutrition is frequently associated with chronic disease. For nutrition interventions to be successful, they must continue to support the long-term nutritional needs of patients beyond the hospital stay. Few studies, however, examine the receipt of recommendations for oral nutrition supplementation (ONS) or basic nutrition care instructions at the time of discharge. There is a need to better understand what post-discharge nutrition care instructions are documented in the electronic medical record (EMR) and how they are communicated to patients once they leave the hospital. This study sought to describe the malnourished adult patient population and the standard of nutrition-focused discharge care they receive at Christiana Hospital in Newark, DE. The investigation revealed that a majority of these patients received inappropriate or inadequate nutrition care instructions at time of discharge. Preliminary survey data suggest that some patients may be unaware of their malnutrition diagnosis, and may receive care instructions that are never documented. Clinician education and redesign of nutrition care options in the EMR may aid in the provision of discharge instructions to treat and prevent malnutrition after patients leave the hospital
Suckling as rearing method on dairy farms: The effect on farm system aspects of two dairy farms in the Netherlands
Maternal behaviour, interactions and contact between cow and calf is limited or absent in modern dairy production due to the widely use of artificial calf rearing. Introduction of suckling on a dairy farm has effects on many aspects such as calf growth, animal health, milk production, rearing costs, behaviour, welfare and naturalness etc.
In a pilot study on two farms the effect of suckling systems on calf growth and milk production of dairy cows was assessed. Furthermore, the development of naturalness on the case study farms was described, as well as the motivation, for the use of suckling as rearing method, of seven farmers
Agrarpolitische Implikationen der Effizienz von Ökobetrieben – der Ökobetrieb als Infant Industry?
The following paper reports the results of a stochastic frontier model applied on 396
organic grassland farms in Germany from 1994/1995 to 2004/2005. The presented
results focus on the technical efficiency (TE) scores during the conversion period. It
could be shown, that the converting farms show lower TE-Scores than the average.
The implications for the promotion of organic farms during the conversion period are
discussed
