Adherence to anti-hypertensive treatment within a chronic disease management program: A longitudinal, retrospective study
Method and device for monitoring distortion in an optical network
A method and a device for monitoring of distortion in an optical network are provided, wherein at least one reference signal and at least one data signal are conveyed via an optical link and wherein a distortion of the at least one data signal is determined based on the at least one reference signal. Also, a corresponding transceiver and a communication system comprising any such device are suggested
High-capacity data transport via large-core plastic optical fiber links using quadrature amplitude modulation
Low-cost QAM chip sets enable high-capacity data transport over highly-dispersive POF links. The feasibility of QAM-64 and -256 system implementation options is shown. Wavelength-sliced QAM-64 performs the best regarding bandwidth consumption and link power budget
Data-aided vs. blind single-carrier coherent receivers
Blind and data-aided single-carrier receivers are discussed for high-speed optical coherent receivers. Equalization concepts are presented and evaluated regarding the implementation complexity and overhead for time-domain and frequency-domain equalization techniques
Low complexity soft differential decoding of QPSK for forward in coherent optic receivers
Coherent systems based on QPSK rely on differential encoding to avoid catastrophic error
propagation. A simple solution for soft differential decoding is presented that limits the penalty after FEC to 0.75dB, similar to pre-FEC binary differential decoding
On the performance of coherent systems in presence of polarization-dependent loss for linear and maximum likelihood receivers
The performance of coherent polarization- multiplexed optical systems is evaluated in the presence of polarization-dependent loss (PDL) for linear and maximum- likelihood receivers and lumped noise at the receiver. The boundaries of PDL mitigation methods are discussed
Long-haul optical transmission using 111 Gb/s polarization-multiplexed DQPSK modulation
We study the tolerance of 111-Gb/s POLMUX-RZ-DQPSK to nonlinear impairments and show the advantage of using non-dispersion managed links and large effective area fibers in ultra long-haul transmission
Dispersion management in long-haul 111-Gb/s POLMUX-RZ-DQPSK transmission systems
We compare the nonlinear tolerance of 111-Gb/s POLMUX-RZ-DQPSK modulation for dispersion managed and unmanaged transmission systems on SSMF. It is shown that unmanaged transmission reduces XPM penalties and therefore allows for the highest nonlinear tolerance
High capacity data transport over high dispersive plastic optical fibre links using quadrature modulation
Quadrature modulation techniques enable high-capacity data transport over severely bandwidth-limited media such as large-core step-index POF, while benefiting from commercially available low-cost QAM chip sets. A number of system concepts have been devised. Results from analyses and experiments show the technical feasibility of systems with direct modulation of the optical source by the composite QAM signal, as well as of systems using wavelength multiplexing to emulate the two quadrature channels. The latter
approach promises the best performance in view of its relatively low link bandwidth consumption and high link power budget
FFE, DFE and MLSE equalizers in phase modulated transmission systems
We investigate the performance and implementation complexity of different equalization techniques combined with phase modulation. We demonstrate that for data rates =40-Gb/s, FFE allows for the most efficient equalization of linear transmission impairments
