Bacterial wilt caused by Ralstonia solanacearum is one of the most devastating diseases affecting crops such as eggplant, potato, tomato and tobacco. The study was carried out in the greenhouse of the Department of Agricultural and Forest Protection of the National Agrarian University (UNA) between April and July 2020 with the aim of evaluating the tolerance of eggplant cultivars (Solanum melongena L.) to bacterial wilt caused by by Ralstonia solanacearum under greenhouse conditions. It was established in a complete randomized design (DCA), unifactorial, with four treatments and 20 repetitions, a total of 80 plants were sampled in each experimental unit. The variables of incidence, severity and progress of the disease showed significant differences, with cultivars EG-195 and Morada Larga being the most affected by the bacteria, compared to cultivars Belleza Negra and EG-203.La marchitez bacteriana causada por Ralstonia solanacearum, es una de las enfermedades más devastadoras que afecta cultivos como berenjena, papa, tomate y tabaco. The article deals with a systematic literature review, with the aim of analyzing existing studies on institutional care for university professors and the care practiced by professors in their educational actions. A survey of articles and theses was carried out on the CAPES journal portal, published between 2010 and 2023, with the following search terms: care, education, higher education, university professor, quality of life, work, mental health, health teaching, teaching well-being, reception and health promotion. Studies on caring for teachers in higher education and their caring actions in practices in the Humanities area were included. The analysis was based on Historical-Cultural Psychology articulated by Vygotsky, reading the nine included studies in full, seven articles and two theses, organized into two categories: institutional care for university professors and the care exercised by university professors in their professional practice. The results show that care for university professors has been experienced through specific actions regarding quality of life at work. There was a perceived lack of studies that identify issues involved in teacher care of an institutional nature and that present educational practices in higher education as an act of care.O artigo trata de uma revisão sistemática de literatura, com o objetivo de analisar os estudos existentes sobre o cuidado institucional ao professor universitário e o cuidado praticado pelo professor nas suas ações educativas.

Twin gestation contributes significantly to perinatal morbidity and mortality related to high occurrence of preterm birth. We evaluated 202 women consecutively selected with twin pregnancies and threatened preterm labor. 98 women were threatened with a single cycle of Atosiban; 34% of them delivered before 34 weeks. The study group consisted of 104 patients submitted to a second cycle of Atosiban because of regular uterine contractions and or cervical length modifications occurred from 48 hours to 7 days and gestational age was prior to 32 week of gestation (group A). After the second cycle of Atosiban, 49 out of 104 patients received a treatment with a vaginal tablet of lactoferrin (group B). After the second cycle of Atosiban, 84% of patients of group A and 90% of patients of group B delivered after 34 weeks. The overall rate of delivery before 34 weeks in the studies groups was of 16%. In our experience, repeated cycles of Atosiban have shown effectiveness in delaying delivery in twin pregnancies. It seems logical to use an oxytocin receptor antagonist as first line drugs in twin pregnancies because of the increased risk of pulmonary edema

INTRODUCTION: The etiology of temporomandibular disorders (TMD's) is currently considered multifactorial, involving psychological factors, oral parafunctions, morphological and functional malocclusion. OBJECTIVES: In keeping with this reasoning, we evaluated children who seek preventive orthodontic treatment, to better understand their grievances and to assess the prevalence of TMD signs and symptoms in these patients. METHODS: Two examiners evaluated 65 children aged 6 to 11 years. RESULTS: In our sample, bruxism featured the highest prevalence rate, whereas atypical swallowing displayed the highest rate among predisposing factors. CONCLUSION: We therefore recommend that the evaluation of possible TMD signs and symptoms in children be adopted as routine in the initial clinical examination.INTRODUÇÃO: atualmente, considera-se multifatorial a etiologia da desordem temporomandibular (DTM), na qual fatores psicológicos, parafunções orais, má oclusão morfológica e funcional constituem possíveis causas para o desenvolvimento dessa disfunção.

The spectrum of intermediate SCN8A-related epilepsy

Objective: Pathogenic variants in SCN8A have been associated with a wide spectrum of epilepsy phenotypes, ranging from benign familial infantile seizures (BFIS) to epileptic encephalopathies with variable severity. Furthermore, a few patients with intellectual disability (ID) or movement disorders without epilepsy have been reported. The vast majority of the published SCN8A patients suffer from severe developmental and epileptic encephalopathy (DEE). In this study, we aimed to provide further insight on the spectrum of milder SCN8A-related epilepsies. Methods: A cohort of 1095 patients were screened using a next generation sequencing panel. Further patients were ascertained from a network of epilepsy genetics clinics. Patients with severe DEE and BFIS were excluded from the study. Results: We found 36 probands who presented with an SCN8A-related epilepsy and normal intellect (33%) or mild (61%) to moderate ID (6%). All patients presented with epilepsy between age 1.5 months and 7 years (mean = 13.6 months), and 58% of these became seizure-free, two-thirds on monotherapy. Neurological disturbances included ataxia (28%) and hypotonia (19%) as the most prominent features. Interictal electroencephalogram was normal in 41%. Several recurrent variants were observed, including Ile763Val, Val891Met, Gly1475Arg, Gly1483Lys, Phe1588Leu, Arg1617Gln, Ala1650Val/Thr, Arg1872Gln, and Asn1877Ser. Significance: With this study, we explore the electroclinical features of an intermediate SCN8A-related epilepsy with mild cognitive impairment, which is for the majority a treatable epilepsy.Peer reviewe
