Generalized Miura Transformations, Two-Boson KP Hierarchies and their Reduction to KDV Hierarchies
Bracket preserving gauge equivalence is established between several two-boson
generated KP type of hierarchies. These KP hierarchies reduce under symplectic
reduction (via Dirac constraints) to KdV, mKdV and Schwarzian KdV hierarchies.
Under this reduction the gauge equivalence is taking form of the conventional
Miura maps between the above KdV type of hierarchies.Comment: 12 pgs., LaTeX, IFT-P/011/93, UICHEP-TH/93-
On the link between rotation, chromospheric activity and Li abundance in subgiant stars
The connection rotation-CaII emission flux-lithium abundance is analyzed for
a sample of bona fide subgiant stars, with evolutionary status determined from
HIPPARCOS trigonometric parallax measurements and from the Toulouse-Geneva
code.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figure
Comparing different machine learning approaches for disfluency structure detection in a corpus of university lectures
This paper presents a number of experiments focusing on assessing the performance of different machine learning methods on the identification of disfluencies and their distinct structural regions over speech data. Several machine learning methods have been applied, namely Naive Bayes, Logistic Regression, Classification and Regression Trees (CARTs), J48 and Multilayer Perceptron.
Our experiments show that CARTs outperform the other methods on the identification of the distinct structural disfluent regions. Reported experiments are based on audio segmentation and prosodic features, calculated from a corpus of university lectures in European Portuguese, containing about 32h of speech and about 7.7% of disfluencies. The set of features automatically extracted from the forced alignment corpus proved to be discriminant of the regions contained in the production of a disfluency. This work shows that using fully automatic prosodic features, disfluency structural regions can be reliably identified using CARTs, where the best results achieved correspond to 81.5% precision, 27.6% recall, and 41.2% F-measure. The best results concern the detection of the interregnum, followed by the detection of the interruption point.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
A estabilidade da desigualdade no Brasil entre 2006 e 2012: Resultados adicionais
We examine how inequality measures, data sources, income brackets, ranking variables of tabulated tax data, underestimation of incomes in the bottom of the distribution and the methodology used to correct inequality affects the trends of inequality in total income among adults in Brazil between 2006 and 2012. The existing evidence corroborates the hypothesis that inequality has remained stable. Different data and methods lead to converging results: level higher than that measured using household surveys, stability and large importance of the rich to explain inequality trends between 2006 and 2012

On the nature of Lithium-rich giant stars: constraints from Beryllium abundances
We have derived beryllium abundances for 7 Li-rich giant (A(Li) > 1.5) stars
and 10 other Li-normal giants, with the aim of investigating the origin of the
Lithium in the Li-rich giants. In particular, we test the predictions of the
engulfment scenario proposed by Siess & Livio (1999), where the engulfment of a
brown dwarf or one or more giant planets would lead to a simultaneous
enrichment of 7Li and 9Be. We show that regardless their nature, none of the
stars studied in this paper were found to have detectable beryllium. Using
simple dilution arguments we show that the engulfment of an external object as
the sole source of Li enrichment is ruled out by the Li and Be abundance data.
The present results favor the idea that Li has been produced in the interior of
the stars by a Cameron-Fowler process and brought up to the surface by an extra
mixing mechanism.Comment: Accepted in A&
