Preparation of shoot apex of Helianthus annuus L. for analysis with scanning electron microscope

After dissection under a stereomicroscope, the apices of sunflower were prepared for scanning electron microscope viewing using three different methods: critical point drying; liquid substitution with glycerol and direct SEM viewing; and without any pre-treatment. The best results were obtained when apices without any pre-treatment were examined. The only required condition is the use of low accelerating voltage (5 kV).47217918
