RESEARCH OF THERMO-OPTICAL INHOMOGENEITIES IN Yb-Er GLASS AT DIODE PUMPING

    Get PDF
Subject of Research. Investigation method of thermo-optical distortions in solid-state lasers was developed and presented. The method can be easily used for research of small diameter (approximately 2 mm) active elements. Method. The experimental method described in this paper is based on the registration of deviation of the energy center of the probe beam passing through the thermally stressed active element. Main Results. We have presented experimental results of the thermal lens optical power research in the active element made of Yb-Er glass pumped transversely by a laser diode in the following modes: without generating, free-running and Q-switching. We have submitted obtained dependences of the optical power on the pumping energy. The measurements have been performed for the two polarization components at two wavelengths (632.8 nm and 1550 nm) showing the absence of explicit astigmatism of the thermal lens. Practical Relevance. Knowledge of the thermal regime of such lasers gives the possibility for more precise calculation of the resonator parameters in terms of the thermal lens occurrence

    Baikal-GVD: status and prospects

Baikal-GVD is a next generation, kilometer-scale neutrino telescope under construction in Lake Baikal. It is designed to detect astrophysical neutrino fluxes at energies from a few TeV up to 100 PeV. GVD is formed by multi-megaton subarrays (clusters). The array construction started in 2015 by deployment of a reduced-size demonstration cluster named "Dubna". The first cluster in its baseline configuration was deployed in 2016, the second in 2017 and the third in 2018. The full scale GVD will be an array of ~10000 light sensors with an instrumented volume of about 2 cubic km. The first phase (GVD-1) is planned to be completed by 2020-2021. It will comprise 8 clusters with 2304 light sensors in total. We describe the design of Baikal-GVD and present selected results obtained in 2015-2017.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figures. Analysis of Implementation of the Requirements for Provision of Biological Safety at a Potentially Hazardous Facility

    Get PDF
Discussed are the problems of implementation of requirements for the provision of biological safety at a potentially hazardous biological facility by the example of Federal Budgetary Institution of Science “State Scientific Center of Applied Microbiology and Biotechnology” of the Rospotrebnadzor. Identified are the necessary and sufficient organizational-andpreventive and control measures and procedures on management of works with microorganisms of the I-IV groups of pathogenicity (hazard) in isolated labs of the Center. Issues associated with exploitation of biological safety engineering systems and assessment of their protective efficiency, problems of medical support of the activities and response to the emergency situations of biological character with the involvement of doctors from a specialized medical wing of the Federal Medical-Biological Agency of the Russian Federation, serving the facility on a constant basis, are analyzed. Determined have been approaches to and principles of establishing the requirements for the system of biological safety at a potentially hazardous biological facility taking into account all the range of biological risks when working with microorganisms. Complex approach and realization of appropriate necessary measures in the sphere of biological safety provision, creating an environment for the reduction of biological risks up to acceptable level while working with pathogenic microorganisms, can be an effective solution of the problem on the whole

THE FORMATION OF THE COMPONENTS OF THE FUZZY KNOWLEDGE BASE FOR DIGITAL PLAN-SCHEMES OF THE RESULTS OF SATELLITE MONITORING OF AGRICULTURAL LANDS

The methods of forming the components of fuzzy knowledge base in the form of basic digital plan-scheme of territories determined by the morphology of satellite images, natural data and the results of subjective assessments are considered. Variants of implementation of the algorithm of identification of the increased reliability taking into account fuzziness of initial data are investigated. During the development of the model of modern monitoring of territories in the interests of economic and social development of the population, it became obvious that the characteristics of the information with which this model should operate, does not correspond to those objects that describe the "deterministic" mathematics, that is, having certainty, accuracy, completeness, isolation, consistency, etc. Man-machine systems (namely, these should include the system of space monitoring) and components of the apparatus of representation of knowledge in them, in reality, reflect those properties of the human model of the world that do not fit into the deterministic mathematics and are characterized by the presence of "non-factors" - incompleteness, lack of accuracy, nonclosure, possibility of contradictions, etc. In this paper we propose a developed and successfully applied in practice by the authors’ method of accounting for non-factors in the identification of objects of the Earth's surface. Within the framework of this method, the following sequence of actions is performed: a vector three-dimensional model of the reference object is obtained by geometric construction, then, changing its position in space (rotation, reflection, scaling), a number of the above parameters are obtained, which are stored and used in the future for recognition to recreate the corresponding angle of the reference object. The paper considers the importance of non-factors in the process of identification of objects of the earth's surface during monitoring using satellite data, their condition, the variant to overcome the negative impact of different types of fuzzy initial monitoring data and improve the reliability of its results on the principles of quorum reservation is proposed

Properties of iron-modified-by-silver supported on mordenite as catalysts for nox reduction

A series of mono and bimetallic catalysts based on a Fe-Ag mixture deposited on mordenite was prepared by ion-exchange and evaluated in the catalytic activity test of the de-NOx reaction in the presence of CO/C3H6. The activity results showed that the most active samples were the Fe-containing ones, and at high temperatures, a co-promoter effect of Ag on the activity of Fe catalysts was also observed. The influence of the order of cation deposition on catalysts formation and their physicochemical properties was studied by FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared Spectroscopy) of adsorbed NO, XANES (X-ray Absorption Near-Edge Structure), and EXAFS (Extended X-ray Absorption Fine Structure) and discussed in terms of the state of iron. Results of Fe K-edge XANES oscillations showed that, in FeMOR catalysts, iron was present in a disordered state as Fe3+ and Fe2+. In FeAgMOR, the prevailing species was Fe3+, while in the AgFeMOR catalyst, the state of iron was intermediate or mixed between FeMOR and FeAgMOR. The Fe K-edge EXAFS results were characteristic of a disordered phase, the first coordination sphere being asymmetric with two different Fe-O distances. In FeAgMOR and AgFeMOR, coordination of Fe-O was similar to Fe2O3 with a few amount of Fe2+ species. We may conclude that, in the bimetallic FeAgMOR and AgFeMOR samples, a certain amount of tetrahedral Al3+ ions in the mordenite framework is replaced by Fe3+ ions, confirming the previous reports that these species are active sites for the de-NOx reaction. Based on the thermodynamic analysis and experimental data, also, it was confirmed that the order of deposition of the components influenced the mechanism of active sites’ formation during the two steps ion-exchange synthesis

Designed is a differential-diagnostic solid nutrient media for isolation and identification of anthrax agent. This media contains: nutrient base (enzymic hydrolysate of fishbone powder), agar-agar, D (+)-sorbite, pH indicator bromthymol blue, and broad-spectrum antibiotic (polymyxin). The media makes it possible to differentiate virulent (capsular) and avirulent (non-capsular) Bacillus anthracis strains, as well as closely related saprophyte microorganisms, depending upon the color and colony morphology
