Flag-Dipole Spinor Fields in ESK Gravities

We consider the Riemann-Cartan geometry as a basis for the Einstein-Sciama-Kibble theory coupled to spinor fields: we focus on $f(R)$ and conformal gravities, regarding the flag-dipole spinor fields, type-(4) spinor fields under the Lounesto classification. We study such theories in specific cases given for instance by cosmological scenarios: we find that in such background the Dirac equation admits solutions that are not Dirac spinor fields, but in fact the aforementioned flag-dipoles ones. These solutions are important from a theoretical perspective, as they evince that spinor fields are not necessarily determined by their dynamics, but also a discussion on their structural (algebraic) properties must be carried off. Furthermore, the phenomenological point of view is shown to be also relevant, since for isotropic Universes they circumvent the question whether spinor fields do undergo the Cosmological Principle.Comment: 18 pages, improved versio

Specifying and Verifying Concurrent Algorithms with Histories and Subjectivity

We present a lightweight approach to Hoare-style specifications for fine-grained concurrency, based on a notion of time-stamped histories that abstractly capture atomic changes in the program state. Our key observation is that histories form a partial commutative monoid, a structure fundamental for representation of concurrent resources. This insight provides us with a unifying mechanism that allows us to treat histories just like heaps in separation logic. For example, both are subject to the same assertion logic and inference rules (e.g., the frame rule). Moreover, the notion of ownership transfer, which usually applies to heaps, has an equivalent in histories. It can be used to formally represent helping---an important design pattern for concurrent algorithms whereby one thread can execute code on behalf of another. Specifications in terms of histories naturally abstract granularity, in the sense that sophisticated fine-grained algorithms can be given the same specifications as their simplified coarse-grained counterparts, making them equally convenient for client-side reasoning. Divergência genética entre genótipos de sorgo sacarino usando técnicas multivariadas.

Objetivou-se avaliar a divergência genética entre genótipos de sorgo sacarino por meio de técnicas multivariadas. Foram avaliados 45 genótipos de sorgo sacarino em Lavras-MG. O delineamento experimental foi o alfa-látice 9x5, com três repetições. As parcelas consistiram de duas linhas de 5 metros espaçadas 0,60 metros. Foram mensurados os seguintes caracteres: número de dias para o florescimento, altura de planta (m), massa de panícula (g), produção de massa verde (t/ha), teor de sólidos solúveis totais (%caldo), toneladas de brix por hectare e produção de etanol (L/ha). Procederam-se as análises de variância associado ao teste F a 5% de probabilidade. A diversidade genética foi avaliada com base na distância de Mahalanobis com posterior agrupamento dos genótipos pelo método de Tocher, bem como pelo método das variáveis canônicas (CRUZ; CARNEIRO, 2006). Houve divergência genética entre os genótipos de sorgo sacarino quanto aos caracteres estudados. As técnicas multivariadas utilizadas possibilitaram a formação de três grupos bem definidos e concordantes, com destaque para a linhagem CMSXS643R por apresentar desempenho agronômico e industrial favoráveis

Zoneamento em área submetida a diferentes impactos antrópicos na Amazônia Oriental.

The study area was the main campus of Embrapa Eastern Amazon, comprising 2706,48 ha located the peryphery of Belém, Pará, Brazil. In order to elaborate a zoning for the ocupation and use of this area, available data and informations of the interest were stored using the geoprocessing system SGI/INPE. The information about land use was obtained through TM/Landsat data of 1995, processed in a SITIM digital image analyser, with use of enhancement and classification techniques, backed by ground truthing. After the storage of the relevant informations in SGI, the zoning was mainly done based on potential use, considering physical and chemical properties of the soil, edaphic limitations and actual land use. Thus information was generated about the land use capacity and recommendations for the six use zones. The information obtained is of great importance as a basis for future administrative action in the study area. From the environmental aspect, the allocation of significant forested areas as conservation units, will contribute to protect a rich biological heritage, essential for the maintenance of environmental quality in the region of Belém
