36 strains of sulfur-oxidizing bacteria were isolated in
Southern Kazakhstan soda-saline soils and identified. Screening of

Cellulose Acetate Sulfate as a Lyotropic Liquid Crystalline Polyelectrolyte: Synthesis, Properties, and Application
The optimal conditions of cellulose acetate sulfate (CAS) homogeneous synthesis with the yield of 94–98 wt.% have been determined. CAS was confirmed to have an even distribution of functional groups along the polymer chain. The polymer was characterized by an exceptionally high water solubility (up to 70 wt.%). The isothermal diagrams of its solubility in water-alcohol media have been obtained. CAS aqueous solutions stability, electrolytic, thermal, and viscous properties have been defined. The main hydrodynamic characteristics such as intrinsic viscosity, Huggins constant, and crossover concentration have been evaluated. The parameters of polymer chain thermodynamic rigidity have been calculated. The formation of liquid crystalline structures in concentrated CAS solutions has been confirmed. CAS was recommended to be used as a binder for the medicinal forms of activated carbon and carbon sorbent for water treatment, hydrophilic ointment foundation
Theoretical analysis of the role of chromatin interactions in long-range action of enhancers and insulators
Long-distance regulatory interactions between enhancers and their target
genes are commonplace in higher eukaryotes. Interposed boundaries or insulators
are able to block these long distance regulatory interactions. The mechanistic
basis for insulator activity and how it relates to enhancer
action-at-a-distance remains unclear. Here we explore the idea that topological
loops could simultaneously account for regulatory interactions of distal
enhancers and the insulating activity of boundary elements. We show that while
loop formation is not in itself sufficient to explain action at a distance,
incorporating transient non-specific and moderate attractive interactions
between the chromatin fibers strongly enhances long-distance regulatory
interactions and is sufficient to generate a euchromatin-like state. Under
these same conditions, the subdivision of the loop into two topologically
independent loops by insulators inhibits inter-domain interactions. The
underlying cause of this effect is a suppression of crossings in the contact
map at intermediate distances. Thus our model simultaneously accounts for
regulatory interactions at a distance and the insulator activity of boundary
elements. This unified model of the regulatory roles of chromatin loops makes
several testable predictions that could be confronted with \emph{in vitro}
experiments, as well as genomic chromatin conformation capture and fluorescent

Mire peat soils of the taiga and sub-taiga zones of West Siberia on a digital model of the soil map of Russia at a scale of 1 : 2 500 000 in terms of the Russian soil classification
A digital version of the soil map of the Russian Federation, scale 1 : 2.5 M, is being prepared based on the analysis of the attributes of polygons with peat soils in the West-Siberian taiga and sub-taiga zones. The correction was perfomed in 795 polygons (with the total area of 179 483 km2) out of 1 711 polygons considered (with the total area of 262 204 km2). The currently formulated idea of the dominance of oligotrophic bogs in the West Siberian taiga region of mires served as the basis for suggestion to replace the mesotrophic peat soils by oligotrophic ones in 598 polygons of the total area of 87 250 km2. Similarly, the polygons of microcatenas comprising oligotrophic and mesotrophic peat soils (57 polygons, total area of 38 405 km2) were modified: only oligotrophic peat soils were considered to be the dominant ones there. At the same time, a number of polygons with prevailing oligotrophic soils, confined mainly to the sub-taiga zone were proposed to be replaced by polygons with mesotrophic peat soils. The thermokarst pools in ridge-hollow mire complexes that were shown on the soil map of Russia beyond the permafrost zone were eliminated from the map database; the mapping of destructive peat soils was rearranged in accordance with the new interpretation of this taxon in the Russian soil classification. This work should improve the quality of research in the field of assessing the resource potential of peat soils in West Siberia
Optimization of Specifications for Scaled-Up Fixed Rabies Virus Cultivation (“Moscow 3253” Strain) in Vero Cell Culture
/cell, using maintenance media 199 with admixture of 0.1 % human serum albumin or 2 % bovine serum. Optimum media volume in the roll-bottle for fixed rabies virus strain, “Moscow 3253”, cultivation is 200-400 ml. It depends upon the proliferating surface area. Specifications stated above provide for the obtainment of culture liquid with rabies virus titer - 1:256 - 1:512, if assayed in ELISA. This cultural virus is recommended as a basis for immunization material obtainment with a view to produce anti-rabies immunoglobulin from equine blood serum
Natural Curative Factors of Teberda Resort in Rehabilitation of Patients with Combined Pathology of the Cardiovascular System and Respiratory
Purpose: To study the influence of natural healing factors of Teberda resort associated with cardiorespiratory disease. Materials and methods: Observations of 100 patients with coronary artery disease (effort angina FK2) in combination with chronic obstructive bronchitis in remission are conducted. Results: The frequency of favorable changes of clinical and paraclinical indices are 15-18,5 % higher with supplemental balneotherapy (medium-mineralized mineral water «Teberda» for internal and external use). Summary: The beneficial effects of climate and mineral medium-mineralized Teberda resort springs on the regulation of metabolism and cardio-respiratory system, respiratory function prove efficiency of their inclusion in the modern treatment technology of patients with combined pathology of the cardiovascular system and respiratory system
