Quantization of a gauge theory on a curved noncommutative space

We study quantization of a gauge analogon of the Grosse-Wulkenhaar model: we find divergent one-loop contributions to the 1-point and 2-point Green functions. We obtain that five counterterms are necessary for renormalization and that all divergences are logarithmic.Comment: 23 pages, 3 figure

This study characterised and evaluated the phenolic composition and antioxidant activity of the redwine grape Vranac (Vitis vinifera L.) from the southern Serbian vineyard region during grape ripening.Polyphenol composition at different harvest dates was determined by HPLC-DAD analysis. Antioxidantactivity was estimated by DPPH assay. The study demonstrates that the Vranac variety representsimportant sources of dietary antioxidants. The results show that (+)-catechin, (-)-epicatechin andprocyanidin dimer B2 were the most prevalent in the seeds, and quercetin and malvidin glucosides in thegrape skins. All grape extracts were shown to have high radical-scavenging activity. Strong correlationsbetween radical-scavenging activity and polyphenols suggest that the phenolic composition of the Vranacvariety contributes significantly to the antioxidant capacities of grape extracts. During grape ripeningthere were significant changes in physiological properties and phenolic content, and it is important todetermine optimal harvest time, which will ensure grapes with very good quality parameters (in our studyat the 30th day after vƩraison)

Introduction. Poisoning caused by drugs with cardiodepressive effects is an urgent condition in medicine which is associated with high mortality rate regardless of modern therapeutic methods. Accidental or intentional poisoning whit these drugs produces heart activity depression and cardiovascular collapse as consequences. Current therapy for severe poisoning caused by beta-blockers and calcium channel blockers includes both unspecific and specific antidote therapy whit glucagon, as well as application of adrenergic drugs, calcium, phosphodiesterase inhibitors and hyperinsulinemia/euglycemia therapy. However, even whit the application of these drugs, prompt measures of unspecific detoxication therapy and cardiopulmonary reanimation are crucial for survival of patients with severe poisoning. Case report. A 28-year-old female patient was hospitalized for cardiogenic shock and altered state of conscioussnes (Glasgow coma score = 4), caused by acute poisoning with 2 g of metoprolol (PresololĀ®), 1.8 g of diltiazem (CortiazemĀ®) and 50 mg of cilazapril (ZoboxĀ®). Prolonged cardiopulmonary resuscitation was applied during the first 16 hours of hospitalization, including administration of crystaline solutions (8 L), 17 mg of adrenaline, 4 mg of atropine, 4 mg of glucagone and 1.6 g of dopamine, with electro-stimulation by temporary pacemaker and mechanical ventilation. In a defined time period, normalized state of consciousness was registered, mechanical ventilation was stopped and normal heart activity and hemodynamic stability were accomplished. During hospitalization the patient was treated for mild pneumonia and after ten days, completely recovered, was released and sent to home treatment. Conclusion. Prompt measures of cardiopulmonary resuscitation and multidisciplinary treatment in intensive care units significantly increase the chances of complete recovery of a patient with severe poisoning caused by drugs with cardiodepressive efects

These activities involved 14 researchers from 7 institutions. The investigations are based on experimental, theoretical and numerical work and results are published in numerous papers in respected international journals. In order to make better connection and coordination of relevant activities in Serbia with international tendencies in this research field researchers participate in several international projects and programs. Bearing in mind the importance of the Sun's impact on our planet, the lives of people as well on modern technologies the general impression is that it is necessary to improve the existing infrastructure and increase the number of involved scientists. This study aims to present the current tendency of integrating contemporary research, people and technology in our country, in order to establish cooperation with other relevant groups and individuals

Cost-effective Ultrasonic Extraction of Bioactive Polyphenols from Vine and Wine Waste in Serbia

    Get PDF
By using cost-effective ultrasonic extraction techniques, bioactive phenolic extracts were obtained from Merlot and Vranac (Vitis vinifera L.) vine and wine waste produced in Serbian wineries. These wastes include vine leaves, grape pomace, seeds, skins and stems, which can find further use in the food and pharmacology industries as preservatives against microbes. The extracts showed strong scavenging free radical activity (EC50 from 0.37 to 2.02 mg/L), which was in very good correlation with the total polyphenol content.Ā  Strong antimicrobial activity was found against six Gram-positive and five Gram-negative bacterial strains, and against the yeast Candida albicans. The principal component and agglomerative hierarchical clustering analyses performed were shown to be good for grouping and distinguishing the results from thevine and wine by-products (leaves and seeds) from both investigated grape varieties based on the content of various polyphenolic classes, and antioxidant and antimicrobial activities. The valorisation of the grape by-products is consistent with the concept of a sustainable and environmentally oriented wine industry and provides an important economic advantage

Correlation between Surface Roughness Characteristics in CO2 Laser Cutting of Mild Steel

    Get PDF
CO2 laser oxygen cutting of mild steel is widely used industrial application. Cut surface quality is a very important characteristic of laser cutting that ensures an advantage over other contour cutting processes. In this paper mathematical models for estimating characteristics of surface quality such as average surface roughness and ten-point mean roughness in CO2 laser cutting of mild steel based on laser cutting parameters were developed. Empirical models were developed using artificial neural networks and experimental data collected. Taguchiā€™s orthogonal array was implemented for experimental plan. From the analysis of the developed mathematical models it was observed that functional dependence between laser cutting parameters, their interactions and surface roughness characteristics is complex and non-linear. It was also observed that there exist region of minimal average surface roughness to ten-point mean roughness ratio. The relationship between average surface roughness and ten-point mean roughness was found to be nonlinear and can be expressed with a second degree polynomial

AdS-inspired noncommutative gravity on the Moyal plane

We consider noncommutative gravity on a space with canonical noncommutativity that is based on the commutative MacDowell-Mansouri action. Gravity is treated as gauge theory of the noncommutative SO(1,3)ā‹†SO(1,3)_\star group and the Seiberg-Witten (SW) map is used to express noncommutative fields in terms of the corresponding commutative fields. In the commutative limit the noncommutative action reduces to the Einstein-Hilbert action plus the cosmological term and the topological Gauss-Bonnet term. After the SW expansion in the noncommutative parameter the first order correction to the action, as expected, vanishes. We calculate the second order correction and write it in a manifestly gauge covariant way.Comment: 22 pages, no figures, final versio

Climate changes instead of global warming

    Get PDF
Air temperature changes on Earth in recent years are the subject of numerous and increasingly interdisciplinary research. In contrast to, conditionally speaking, generally accepted views that these changes are conditioned primarily by anthropogenic activity, more results appear to suggest that it is dominant natural processes about. Whether because of the proven existence of areas in which downtrends are registered or the stagnation of air temperature, as opposed to areas where the increase is determined, in scientific papers, as well as the media, the increasingly present is the use of the term climate changes instead of the global warming. In this paper, we shall try to present arguments for the debate relating to the official view of the IPCC, as well as research indicating the opposite view

A contribution to the study of the influence of the energy of solar wind upon the atmospheric processes

    Get PDF
According to the satellite observing of solar wind, and as well according the development of certain weather conditions it is realized that their interactive connections could have important role on the development of atmospheric processes. In this paper is given several of such situations. We have tried to point to a very important significance of new methodological approach in understanding development of meteorological conditions. Researching the influence of the solar wind on the changes of conditions in the atmosphere could develop in several ways but in any case for the further steps a multidiscipline approach is needed. Karen Labitske in Germany has done a lot of research in this area. "The physics is still highly speculative at this point though"
