Determinants of continuance intention of RFID in Australian livestock industry: An empirical study

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to develop and refine a theoretical framework to examine the continuance intention of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in Australian livestock industry. A mixed-method research approach, consisting qualitative and quantitative, has been taken for this study. The findings of this study show that the continued RFID usage intention is influenced by satisfaction from current use, and confirmation of expectations. As a practical contribution, the findings of this study can be addressed by the Australian agricultural agencies as an acid-test of its current and future mandatory RFID policy. Policymakers can compare their experience with the findings of this study, evaluate the past, and reassess the future. As a theoretical contribution, this study is a first of its kind considering and incorporating 'adoption' in a confirmation-satisfaction framework to examine the continued usage behaviour of RFID

Factors influencing the mandatory adoption of RFID: An empirical investigation from Australian livestock industry

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to examine the factors of RFID adoption in a mandatory environment. This paper presents the result of an empirical study that investigates the adoption behaviour of livestock farms in relation to Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology in the context ofAustralia. A mixed method consisting qualitative and quantitative research approach has been taken for this study. The finding of this study confirmed that external environment, technological characteristics, and organizational factors are significant for RFID adoption. Alternatively, expectations from RFID-adoption do not have an influence on RFID adoption when the adoption is mandatory

Investigating indirect influences of team composition on team innovation: qualitative evidence from parallel teams in Malaysian organizations

    Get PDF
This article reports qualitative findings on how team composition influences team innovation through ‘team interaction processes’ and ‘emergent states’, which can be described by the ‘team reflexivity’ and ‘team innovation climate’ variables. Given that team composition generally related to ‘bio-demographic’ and ‘task-related’ diversities, this study explores which diversity is related to team reflexivity and innovation climate. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews with members of parallel teams in Malaysian organizations. Content analysis of the interview transcripts revealed that bio-demographic diversity affects only one of the four dimensions of the innovation climate, which then influences team reflexivity. Task-related diversity was found to have a direct influence on team reflexivity, but was not related to any dimension of the innovation climate

A comparison of voluntary and mandatory adoption of Radio Frequency Indentification (RFID) technology in organizations

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study is to compare the organizational adoption factors of Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) between adopters and non-adopters in mandatory and voluntary environments respectively. This paper presents the result of an empirical study that investigates the adoption behaviour of livestock farms in relation to RFID technology adoption in the context of Australia. The quantitative research approach has been taken for this study. The finding of this study confirmed that external pressure and organizations’ management-related factors are considered as significant by both adopters and non-adopters. Moreover, adopters considered that compatibility is another important factor for RFID adoption; while the non-adopters emphasized on costs of and expected-benefits from RFID. Implications of the results are discussed

The focuses on environment and reverse supply chain have increased in recent years among academic and industry circle. Yet, Bangladesh poultry is to achieve environmental sustainability in her extended forward and reverse supply chain. In this paper, supply chain model developed based on a case poultry industry. Design science and case method under positivist and quantitative paradigm followed to develop simulation model using simul8 application to fit the real poultry case. The objectives of this paper are to review literature, develop simulation supply chain model and later tested it through historic data. The results briefly discussed and model capturing the relationship among forward, reverse and mainstream supply chain of the case. Different random trial runs of the simulation model have shown in the result section to find out optimality

Reducing environmental hazards through reserve supply chain model

    Get PDF
Environmental hazards transpire when industrial wastages are dumped illegally into vacant lands, rivers or low-lying areas. This is a major problem in developing, and less-developed countries where environmental regulations are not (or cannot be) strictly enforced. Researchers around the globe are conducting research to find various ways to minimize or eliminate industrial hazards. In this paper, we take a supply-chain approach and show how the concept of the reverse supply chain can be used to recycle industrial wastage into useful by-products. Our problem domain is poultry industry in Bangladesh. Using Simul8, a simulation model of reverse supply chain is developed for a large poultry plant in Bangladesh where poultry wastes are modelled to turn into various by-products. We use primary and secondary data to run the simulation model. Our results show that poultry wastes can indeed be processed to turn into various by products as bakery products, biogas, artificial charcoal, etc. The management of the poultry plant can use our results to develop policies to reduce poultry hazards and thus save the environment. We touch on research and managerial implications of our results

Inter-organizational supply chain performance: How the relationship factors influence the Australian beef industry?

    Get PDF
This study examines supply chain structures and inter-organizational relationship factors that influence the supply chain performance in the Australian beef industry. It investigated the extent to which aggregated relationship strength is a source of supply chain performance for the industry. The effect of antecedent factors such as vertical coordination, negotiation power and the use of IOS in the relationship strength were also investigated. Data were collected through a telephone survey in 315 firms including input suppliers, producers, processors and retailers in the beef industry of Western Australia and Queensland. The results support both the direction of theoretical underpinnings from RBV and TCE in the beef industry, that durable buyer-supplier relationships in the supply chain are developed from the level of commitment and trust, interdependence and mutual investment and can be a strategic economic resource to by-pass the cost of traditional market transactions. Results suggest the following key success factors for the beef industry in Australia: (a) the operational adoption of a lean supply chain between producer and processors or processors and retailers; (b) a transparent interdependent relationship with a strong consolidation/integration of business activities; and (c) synchronized information flows for greater compliance with carcass specifications in the supply chain
