Decoupling of superfluid and normal modes in pulsating neutron stars
We show that equations governing pulsations of superfluid neutron stars can
be splitted into two sets of weakly coupled equations, one describing the
superfluid modes and another one -- the normal modes. The coupling parameter s
is small, |s| ~ 0.01-0.05, for realistic equations of state. Already an
approximation s=0 is sufficient to calculate the pulsation spectrum within the
accuracy of a few percents. Our results indicate, in particular, that emission
of gravitational waves from superfluid pulsation modes is suppressed in
comparison to that from normal modes. The proposed approach allows to
drastically simplify modeling of pulsations of superfluid neutron stars.Comment: 5 pages, 2 figures; published version + mistake in Eq.(6) and a few

The neutrino emission due to plasmon decay and neutrino luminosity of white dwarfs
One of the effective mechanisms of neutrino energy losses in red giants,
presupernovae and in the cores of white dwarfs is the emission of
neutrino-antineutrino pairs in the process of plasmon decay. In this paper, we
numerically calculate the emissivity due to plasmon decay in a wide range of
temperatures (10^7-10^11) K and densities (200-10^14) g cm^-3. Numerical
results are approximated by convenient analytical expressions. We also
calculate and approximate by analytical expressions the neutrino luminosity of
white dwarfs due to plasmon decay, as a function of their mass and internal
temperature. This neutrino luminosity depends on the chemical composition of
white dwarfs only through the parameter mu_e (the net number of baryons per
electron) and is the dominant neutrino luminosity in all white dwarfs at the
neutrino cooling stage.Comment: 19 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in MNRA
Charmed meson resonances from chiral coupled-channel dynamics
Charmed meson resonances with quantum numbers J^P=0^+ and J^P=1^+ are
generated in terms of chiral coupled-channel dynamics. At leading order in the
chiral expansion a parameter-free prediction is obtained for the scattering of
Goldstone bosons off charmed pseudo-scalar and vector mesons. The recently
announced narrow open charm states observed by the BABAR and CLEO
collaborations are reproduced. We suggest the existence of states that form an
anti-triplet and a sextet representation of the SU(3) group. In particular, so
far unobserved narrow isospin-singlet states with negative strangeness are
predicted.Comment: Presented at Hadron 03: 10th International Conference on Hadron

Theory of one-dimensional double-barrier quantum pump in two-frequency signal regime
A one-dimensional system with two -like barriers or wells
bi-chromaticaly oscillating at frequencies and is
considered. The alternating signal leads to the direct current across the
structure (even in a symmetric system). The properties of this quantum pump are
studied in a wide range of the system parameters.Comment: 4 pages, 5 figure
Synthesis of porous silicates
The issues of importance and future concern in the synthesis of porous silicates and porous materials that contain a large fraction of silica, e.g. zeolites and other crystalline molecular sieves, are reviewed. The thermodynamics of zeolite synthesis are discussed, including a detailed thermodynamic analysis of the synthesis of pure-silica ZSM-5. The kinetics of porous silicate synthesis are reviewed, with particular emphasis on the control of porous structure formation through the use of organic structure-directing agents. Ordered mesoporous materials are discussed in the context of distinguishing their features from zeolites in order to describe further the unique properties of each class of material. Finally, several unresolved issues in the understanding of the synthesis process are outlined, the resolutions of which would aid in the synthesis of porous silicates by design
