Fractional order magneto-thermoelasticity in a rotating media with one relaxation time

    Get PDF
The theory of generalized thermoelasticity based on the heat conduction equation with the Caputo time-fractional derivative is used to study magneto-thermoelastic response of a homogeneous isotropic two-dimensional rotating elastic half-space solid. The solution for the physical variables is obtained using the normal mode analysis together with an eigenvalue approach technique. Numerical computations are carried out for a hypothetical copper like material the numerical results are illustrated graphically. Some comparisons have been made in the graphical results to show the effect of fractional parameter, magnetic field and the rotation on the field variables

State-space approach to 3D generalized thermoviscoelasticity under Green and Naghdi theory II

The present paper is aimed at studying the effects of viscosity on thermoelastic interactions in a three-dimensional homogeneous isotropic half-space solid medium whose surface is subjected to a thermal shock and is assumed to be stress free. The formulation is applied to the generalized thermoelasticity based on the GN model without energy dissipation (GN II model). The normal mode analysis together with state-space approach is used to obtain the exact analytical expressions for the field variables considered. Numerical computations are performed for a specific material and the results obtained are represented graphically. Comparisons are made within the theory in the presence and absence of viscosity effects

Long Term Rehabilitation of a Total Glossectomy Patient

Malignant tumours of the oral cavity that require resection of the tongue result in severe deficiencies in speech and deglutition. Speech misarticulation leads to loss of speech intelligibility, which can prevent or limit communication. Prosthodontic rehabilitation involves fabrication of a Palatal Augmentation Prosthesis (PAP) following partial glossectomy and a mandibular tongue prosthesis after total glossectomy [1]. Speech analysis of a total glossectmy patient rehabilitated with a tongue prosthesis was done with the help of Dr. Speech Software Version 4 (Tiger DRS, Inc., Seattle) twelve years after treatment. Speech therapy sessions along with a prosthesis helped him to correct the dental sounds by using the lower lip and upper dentures (labio-dentals). It was noticed that speech intelligibility, intonation pattern, speech articulation and overall loudness was noticeably improved
