STUDY HABITS AND STUDENT ONLINE ENGAGEMENT OF BACHELOR PHYSICAL EDUCATION OF THE UNIVERSITY OF MINDANAO, PHILIPPINES

The continuity of pre-pandemic student engagement in higher education institutions was put to the test by the new teaching method. This descriptive correlational quantitative research aims to determine the relationship between study habits and online engagement among bachelor of physical education students at the University of Mindanao. The data came from 203 first- through fourth-year university students who participated in stratified online and paper surveys. The statistical techniques used are mean, standard deviation and Pearson’s r. Findings revealed a high level of time management, class attendance and participation, general study and strategy, exam preparation, and note-taking. Also, researchers found a high student level of peer management, instructor and self-directed management and multimodal engagement. Moreover, the study revealed a significant correlation between the two variables. Evidently, study habits turn out to be effective and still be applied in a student online engagement setting.  Article visualizations

Pala'wan "Sudsugid" Stories and their Viability in Developing Story Books for Indigenous People Education (IPED)

This study documents “sudusugid” oral literature in a community in Sitio Tagbituka, Brgy. Tarusan, Bataraza. The researchers accomplished it by using a qualitative approach in the form of narrative research. Community elders served as key informants for this study. During the site visits from April 26 to May 20, 2022, ten (10) "sudsugid" stories were told by the key informants but mentioned that not all of them are appropriate to be developed into storybooks for elementary learners as some of them have inappropriate themes. From the ten stories presented by the key informants, they have suggested two stories that could be developed as storybooks. Results also indicate how each individual story reflects the Pala'wan culture, such as their cosmology and value system.</jats:p

A computational approach to selective attention in embodied approaches to cognitive archaeology

This article proposes a novel computational approach to embodied approaches in cognitive archaeology called computational cognitive archaeology (CCA). We argue that cognitive archaeology, understood as the study of the human mind based on archaeological findings such as artefacts and material remains excavated and interpreted in the present, can benefit from the integration of novel methods in computational neuroscience interested in modelling the way the brain, the body and the environment are coupled and parameterized to allow for adaptive behaviour. We discuss the kind of tasks that CCA may engage in with a narrative example of how one can model the cumulative cultural evolution of the material and cognitive components of technologies, focusing on the case of knapping technology. This article thus provides a novel theoretical framework to formalize research in cognitive archaeology using recent developments in computational neuroscience.</p
