Robust position control in DC motor by fuzzy sliding mode control

In spite of improvement of AC drive systems, still DC drivers are widely used in industry. One of the problems which might cause unsuccessful attempts for designing a proper controller would be the time-varying nature of parameters and variables which might be changed while working with the motion systems. One of the best suggested solutions to solve this problem would be the use of sliding mode control. SMC is not sensitive to changes and yet would have a fair response to the system variations. SMC suffers some deficiencies. One of the most important deficiencies is that the controller parameters are constant. However, better response can be achieved by SMC in comparison with classical methods in terms of shorter settling time, less overshoot and more stability. In this paper through benefiting from fuzzy logic for flexibility of the sliding mode control a fair response has been obtained for a stable and efficient control of the DC motors
