    Condensate formation with three-component ultracold fermions

    We investigate the formation of Bose-Einstein condensation and population imbalance in a three-component Fermi superfluid by increasing the U(3) invariant attractive interaction. We consider the system at zero temperature in three dimensions and also in two dimensions. Within the mean-field theory, we derive explicit formulas for number densities, gap order parameter, condensate density and condensate fraction of the uniform system, and analyze them in the crossover from the Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer (BCS) state of Cooper pairs to the Bose-Einstein Condensate (BEC) of strongly-bound molecular dimers. In addition, we study this Fermi mixture trapped by a harmonic potential: we calculate the density profiles of the three components and the condensate density profile of Cooper pairs in the BCS-BEC crossover.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in Physical Review A (regular article

    What is consciousness and what is the missing link between the sensory input and the cortical centre in the brain for consciousness? In the literature there are more than a million pages written about consciousness. The perspectives range from the field of metaphysics to those of quantum mechanics. However, no one today has produced a theory which is universally accepted. Consciousness is “something” which the majority of humans know that they posses, they use it when they want to understand their environment. However, no individual human knows whether other humans also posses consciousness. unless some tests such as she is looking at me, he is talking etc., are performed. We are caught in an intellectual sort of recursive carousel – we need consciousness to understand consciousness. To understand consciousness we have to understand the mechanism of its function, which is to effectively organize sensory inputs from our environment. Consciousness is the outcome of the process of organizing these sensory inputs. This implies that organization is an act which precedes consciousness. Since every activity in nature is to organize/disorganize, what is the element which compels this action? I am proposing that just like energy is the physical element that causes action, there is another physical element I have called it NASCIUM which has the capacity to cause organization. This is the missing link. Understanding the nature of organization, i.e. nascium, will enhance our capability to understand consciousness

    Effects of Mobility on User Energy Consumption and Total Throughput in a Massive MIMO System

    Macroscopic mobility of wireless users is important to determine the performance and energy effciency of a wireless network, because of the temporal correlations it introduces in the consumed power and throughput. In this work we introduce a methodology that obtains the long time statistics of such metrics in a network. After describing the general approach, we present a specific example of the uplink channel of a mobile user in the vicinity of a massive MIMO base-station antenna array. To guarantee a fixed SINR and rate, the user inverts the path-loss channel power, while moving around in the cell. To calculate the long time distribution of the consumed energy of the user, we assume his movement follows a Brownian motion, and then map the problem to the solution of the minimum eigenvalue of a partial differential equation, which can be solved either analytically, or numerically very fast. We also treat the throughput of a single user. We then discuss the results and how they can be generalized if the mobility is assumed to be a Levy random walk. We also provide a roadmap to use this technique when one considers multiple users and base stations.Comment: Submitted to ITW 201

    On geometric relativistic foundations of matter field equations and plane wave solutions

    In this paper, we start from the geometric relativistic foundations to define the basis upon which matter field theories are built, and their wave solutions are investigated, finding that they display repulsive interactions able to reproduce the exclusion principle in terms of its effects in a dynamical way, then discussing possible consequences and problems.Comment: 11 page
