Data on comparative proteomic profiling of human sperm affected by 4-tert-octylphenol in vitro

    No full text
This data article presents proteomic profiling and posttranslational modifications of sperm proteins relating to the research paper “4-tert-octylphenol injures motility and viability of human sperm by affecting cAMP-PKA/PKC-tyrosine phosphorylation signals.” (Huang et al., 2018). Comparative proteomics was applied to identify the target biomarkers and the relevant molecular events of human sperm which were exposed to 0 (Dimethyl sulfoxide, DMSO), 0.1, or 0.3 mM 4-tert-octylphenol (4t-OP) for two hours in vitro. All differentially expressed (DE) proteins were then mapped to the human sperm proteome 2.0 (Wang et al., 2016) to clarify the posttranslational modifications (PTMs) of the DE proteins. We provide the associated mass spectrometry raw files; the PTMs in all the DE proteins, in DE proteins related to apoptosis, and in DE proteins related to motility. These data highlight the molecular mechanism relating to injured motility and viability of human sperm affected by 4t-OP

Telomere length has been proposed as a marker of aging. However, our knowledge of lifestyle risk factors determining telomere length is limited. We evaluated the associations between years of rotating night shifts, self-reported sleep duration, and telomere length in 4,117 female participants from the Nurses' Health Study. Telomere length in peripheral blood leukocytes was determined by Real-Time PCR assay. Information on rotating night shifts and sleep duration was collected via questionnaires prior to blood collection. We used multivariable linear regression to investigate the associations between rotating night shifts, sleep duration, and telomere length.Compared with women in the category (9 hours), those in the lowest category of sleep duration (≤6 hours) had a 0.12 unit decrease in z score after adjustment for age, BMI and cigarette smoking (equivalent to 9-year telomere attrition, P for trend  = 0.05). Significant positive association between sleep duration and telomere length was seen among women under age of 50 (P for trend  = 0.004), but not among those over 50 (P for trend  = 0.33) (P for interaction  = 0.005). In addition, we observed that women with a longer history of rotating night shifts tended to have shorter telomere length, but this relation was not statistically significant (P for trend  = 0.36).We found that sleep duration was positively associated with telomere length among women under 50 years old. Further research is needed to confirm the observed associations

A Novel Synthetization Approach for Multi Coupled Line Section Impedance Transformers in Wideband Applications

    No full text
In this paper, a novel synthetization approach is proposed for filter-integrated wideband impedance transformers (ITs). The original topology consists of N cascaded coupled line sections (CLSs) with 2N characteristic impedance parameters. By analyzing these characteristic impedances, a Chebyshev response can be derived to consume N + 2 design conditions. To optimize the left N − 2 variable parameters, CLSs were newly substituted by transmission lines (TLs) to consume the remaining variable parameters and simplify the circuit topology. Therefore, there are totally 2N − N − 2 substituting possibilities. To verify the proposed approach, 25 cases are listed under the condition of N = 5, and 7 selected cases are compared and discussed in detail. Finally, a 75–50 Ω IT with 100% fractional bandwidth and 20 dB bandpass return loss (RL) is designed and fabricated. The measured results meet the circuit simulation and the EM simulation accurately
