An investigation of quantification of image quality with respect to screen ruling on the appearance of multicolor print

Using a finer screen ruling will result in an improved final image quality in the color printing process. Studies have shown that beyond certain screen frequencies any further increase in the number of lines per inch has negligible benefit on multicolor process printing when using the half-tone printing precess. The objective of this research is to quantify the image quality of multicolor process printing by comparing the results of using several different screen rulings. The final image quality was subjectively evaluated based on the appearance of otherwise identical reproductions with the only difference being the screen ruling. The results of this research indicated that the relationship between the image quality and the screen rulings was not linear in the color printing process and the difference in image quality of reproductions made by using screen rulings of 133, 150, and 200 lines per inch was not significant

Interface control of ferroelectricity in LaNiO3-BaTiO3 superlattices

LaNiO3_{3}-BaTiO3_{3} superlattices with different types of interfaces are studied from first-principles density-functional theory. It is revealed that the ferroelectricity in the superlattice with (NiO2_2)^-/(BaO)0^0 interfaces is enhanced from that of the superlattice with (LaO)+^+/(TiO2_2)0^0 interfaces. The origin lies at the polar discontinuity at the interface, which makes the holes localized within the (NiO2_2)^-/(BaO)0^0 interface, but drives a penetration of electrons into BaTiO3_3 component near (LaO)+^+/(TiO2_2)0^0 interface. Our calculations demonstrate an effective avenue to the robust ferroelectricity in BaTiO3_3 ultrathin films.Comment: 14 pages, 6 figure

Geothermal Explorations on the Slate Formation of Taiwan

    Get PDF
Currently, over 90% operated geothermal power plants are distributed in the volcanic- or magmatic intrusion-related geological systems. Only a few cases are done in metamorphic terranes, especially on the slate formation. Taiwan is located at the ring of fire and is famous for the young orogenic belt, which has wide distributions of rapid uplifting terranes with few active volcanoes. The metamorphic rocks, for example, schist and slate formations with high geothermal gradients, are occurring in the major mountain range. This chapter introduces the techniques or methods we used for geothermal exploration in the slate formation of the Chingshui geothermal field of Taiwan, where a 3-MW pilot geothermal power plant had been installed in 1983 and operated for 12 years

In the title compound, C9HI3O6·2H2O, the molecule is located on a twofold axis that gives rise to disorder of the carboxyl group. This disorder is correlated with the disorder of one of the H atoms of the water molecule. The carboxyl group is twisted relative to the attached benzene ring by 75.1 (4)°. The intramolecular I⋯O distance is 2.112 (6) Å. Molecules are linked via O—H⋯O hydrogen bonding, C—I⋯O halogen bonding, with I⋯O distances in the range 3.156 (5)–3.274 (6) Å, and dipolar C=O⋯C=O interactions between the carboxyl and carboxylate groups, with an O⋯C distance of 2.944 (10) Å
