The impact of global acoustic modes on the 8B neutrino flux time series is computed for the first time. It is shown that the time fluctuations of the 8B neutrino flux depend on the amplitude of acoustic eigenfunctions in the region where the 8B neutrino flux is produced: modes with low n (or order) that have eigenfunctions with a relatively large amplitude in the Sun's core, strongly affect the neutrino flux; conversely, modes with high n that have eigenfunctions with a minimal amplitude in the Sun's core have a very small impact on the neutrino flux. It was found that the global modes with a larger impact on the 8B neutrino flux have a frequency of oscillation in the interval 250 \mu Hz to 500 \mu Hz (or a period in the interval 30 minutes to 70 minutes), such as the f-modes (n=0) for the low degrees, radial modes of order n smaller or equal to 3, and the dipole mode of order n=1. Their corresponding neutrino eigenfunctions are very sensitive to the solar inner core and are unaffected by the variability of the external layers of the solar surface. If time variability of neutrinos is observed for these modes, it will lead to new ways of improving the sound speed profile inversion in the central region of the Sun.Comment: 6 pages, 3 figures, 1 tabl

FROM MULTI-PERCUSSION TO DRUM SET: The rise of the Lowboy

It is a fact for some musicologists that organological studies have been somehow neglected by the mainstream musical instrument teaching, hence resulting in some disuse of these in the everyday performance practice rhetoric. This communication will present ongoing research regarding the emergence and development of one the most celebrated instruments of the 20th century – the Drum Set. Issues of history, musical genre, and composition will be addressed in order to try to trace the evolution of the instrument, and how these relate to contemporary methodology of teaching, as well as performance of this renown instrument

The Geology as an indispensable tool for optimizing the exploration of dimension Stones

Like any Geological Resource, the Dimension Stones can only be exploited where they occur. How they occur is a reflection of geological history that presided over its formation. Their nature determines the mode of deposit and therefore it’s potential to be exploited as ornamental stone. The geological setting of the Portuguese marbles became a key factor in the optimization of its exploitation, two ductile deformation phases must be consider, which originates the complex folded metamorphic layering. At least three fracturing systems are responsible for the high segmentation of the marbles in fragile deformation conditions and that must also be considered. Together these geological constraints lead to a really low production ratio (3% - 12%). These low efficiency productions emphasized the emergence of the geological knowledge of individual quarries in order to optimize is exploitation. Until recent years, with high prices for the Portuguese marbles the companies haven’t been concerned with the geological knowledge of its quarries, but now that an economic crisis is installed in the sector, basic geological studies in the quarries are mandatory and could save thousands of euros for each company
