INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND THE COMPANY PERFORMANCE IN THE SECTOR OF SERVICES
Presently, the weight of services sector is increasing in all economies and represents the main element of the gross
domestic product in the developed countries. Consequently, in the last decennia, this sector captured the interest of
researchers, both in academic and business media. Information Technology (IT) represents one of the most dynamic
factors contributing to the technical progress in the design, process and supply of all categories of services. The
theoretical and practical investigations already demonstrated the potential of the Information Systems adoption and
implementation, to improve the organization performances (efficiency, productivity, organization competitiveness and
development etc.). However, this potential is not always fully valued. The best performances could be achieved when
the IT investments are aligned with internal capabilities and organizational processes within company strategy. The
aim of this contribution is to review main published studies investigating the direct and indirect potential effects of IT
on company performance in the service sector. There are also addressed issues regarding the measurement difficulties
of the IT impacts on organization performance and the limitations generated by the service diversity and the fast
dynamics of their market
Environment-Oriented CSR Activities of Romanian Companies
Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a concept largely adopted by companies in the lastdecennia. CSR initiatives undertaken by companies cover several domains, among which theenvironment appears to be a preferred one. Presently, more and more organizations initiatespecific actions supporting the protection of the environment and the education in this domain.
This work aims to present the main CSR programs and activities initiated by Romanian companiesin the field of environment protection and their benefits in the support of environmentalmanagement system
The Impact of Information and Communication Technology in the Government Reform
The deep transformations of the society induced by the development of IT had determined significant changes in almost all the fields of activity. Many countries started to implement information and communication technology in the public administration as a fast way to the performance and efficiency of its services. This paper aims to underline the significant improvement determined by the use of information technology, with focus on e-services. It is mentioned also the effort of Romanian Government to align with the requirements of the EU on the computerization of governance. Also there are presented some recommendations for the improvement of e-governance in Romania
