Chiral Perturbation Theory and the BˉBˉ\bar B \bar B Strong Interaction

We have calculated the potentials of the heavy (charmed or bottomed) pseudoscalar mesons up to O(ϡ2)O(\epsilon^2) with the heavy meson chiral perturbation theory. We take into account the contributions from the football, triangle, box, and crossed diagrams with the 2ϕ\phi exchange and one-loop corrections to the contact terms. We notice that the total 2ϕ\phi-exchange potential alone is attractive in the small momentum region in the channel BˉBˉI=1{\bar B \bar B}^{I=1}, BˉsBˉsI=0{\bar B_s \bar B_s}^{I=0}, or BˉBˉsI=1/2{\bar B \bar B_s}^{I=1/2}, while repulsive in the channel BˉBˉI=0{\bar B \bar B}^{I=0}. Hopefully the analytical chiral structures of the potentials may be useful in the extrapolation of the heavy meson interaction from lattice QCD simulation.Comment: 14 pages, 8 figures, 4 tables; discussion extended, references added, version published in Phys. Signature of the Ξ³\gamma+jet and dijet production mediated by an excited quark with QCD next-to-leading order accuracy at the LHC

We present a detailed study of the production and decay of the excited quark at the QCD next-to-leading order (NLO) level at the Large Hadron Collider, using the narrow width approximation and helicity amplitudes method. We find that the QCD NLO corrections can tighten the constraints on the model parameters and reduce the scale dependencies of the total cross sections. We discuss the signals of the excited quark production with decay mode qβˆ—β†’qΞ³q^{\ast}\rightarrow q\gamma and qβˆ—β†’qgq^{\ast}\rightarrow qg, and present several important kinematic distributions. Moreover, we give the upper limits of the excited quark excluded mass range and the allowed parameter space for the coupling constants and the excited quark mass.Comment: 20 pages, 13 figures; version published in PR

Chess-Board-Like Spatio-Temporal Interference Patterns and Their Excitation

We discover new type of interference patterns generated in the focusing nonlinear Schr\"odinger equation (NLSE) with localised periodic initial conditions. At special conditions, found in the present work, these patterns exhibit novel chess-board-like spatio-temporal structures which can be observed as the outcome of collision of two breathers. The infinitely extended chess-board-like patterns correspond to the continuous spectrum bands of the NLSE theory. More complicated patterns can be observed when the initial condition contains several localised periodic swells. These patterns can be observed in a variety of physical situations ranging from optics and hydrodynamics to Bose-Einstein condensates and plasma.Comment: 6 pages, 5 figure
