A Fast Radio Burst Search Method for VLBI Observation

We introduce the cross spectrum based FRB (Fast Radio Burst) search method for VLBI observation. This method optimizes the fringe fitting scheme in geodetic VLBI data post processing, which fully utilizes the cross spectrum fringe phase information and therefore maximizes the power of single pulse signals. Working with cross spectrum greatly reduces the effect of radio frequency interference (RFI) compared with using auto spectrum. Single pulse detection confidence increases by cross identifying detections from multiple baselines. By combining the power of multiple baselines, we may improve the detection sensitivity. Our method is similar to that of coherent beam forming, but without the computational expense to form a great number of beams to cover the whole field of view of our telescopes. The data processing pipeline designed for this method is easy to implement and parallelize, which can be deployed in various kinds of VLBI observations. In particular, we point out that VGOS observations are very suitable for FRB search.Comment: Accepted for publication in A

AIM: To explore the changes of ocular surface after phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation. <p>METHODS: Totally 78 cases of 78 eyes with age-related cataract were collected from August 2011 to October 2012, and they underwent corneal incision phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation. The score of dry eye symptoms; tear breakup time(BUT); Schirmer â…  test(Sâ… t)and corneal fluorescein staining were observed and recorded in 3 days before, 1 day, 1 week, 1 month, 3 and 6 months after surgery respectively. The results were analyzed statistically. <p>RESULTS: All the subjects complained of dry eye within 1 week after surgery. Compared with 3 days before the surgery, the corneal fluorescein staining increased and the amount of tear secretion reduced statistically significant in 1 day, 1 week and 1 month(<i>P</i><0.05). BUT was significantly shorten in 1 month after surgery(<i>P</i><0.05). Three months after the operation, they were all recovered to the level of before(<i>P</i>>0.05), and lasted to 3 months later. <p>CONCLUSION: Phacoemulsification combined with intraocular lens implantation has obvious effect on the ocular surface to some extent. Preventions and treatment should be taken clinically

Impulsive stabilization of high-order nonlinear retarded differential equations

summary:In this paper, impulsive stabilization of high-order nonlinear retarded differential equations is investigated by using Lyapunov functions and some analysis methods. Our results show that several non-impulsive unstable systems can be stabilized by imposition of impulsive controls. Some recent results are extended and improved. An example is given to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed control and stabilization methods

A verifiable quantum key agreement protocol based on six-qubit cluster states

Quantum key agreement requires all participants to recover the shared key together, so it is crucial to resist the participant attack. In this paper, we propose a verifiable multi-party quantum key agreement protocol based on the six-qubit cluster states. A verifiable distributor who preserves some subsequences of the six-qubit cluster states is introduced into this protocol, thus the participants can not obtain the shared key in advance. Besides, the correctness and simultaneity of the shared key are guaranteed by the trusted design combiner and homomorphic hash function. Furthermore, the security analysis shows that the new protocol can resist the external and internal attacks.Comment: 9 pages, 2 figure

Carnosol Modulates Th17 Cell Differentiation and Microglial Switch in Experimental Autoimmune Encephalomyelitis

Medicinal plants as a rich pool for developing novel small molecule therapeutic medicine have been used for thousands of years. Carnosol as a bioactive diterpene compound originated from Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) and Salvia officinalis, herbs extensively applied in traditional medicine for the treatment of multiple autoimmune diseases (1). In this study, we investigated the therapeutic effects and molecule mechanism of carnosol in experimental autoimmune encephalomyelitis (EAE), an animal model of multiple sclerosis (MS). Carnosol treatment significantly alleviated clinical development in the myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein (MOG35–55) peptide-induced EAE model, markedly decreased inflammatory cell infiltration into the central nervous system and reduced demyelination. Further, carnosol inhibited Th17 cell differentiation and signal transducer and activator of transcription 3 phosphorylation, and blocked transcription factor NF-κB nuclear translocation. In the passive-EAE model, carnosol treatment also significantly prevented Th17 cell pathogenicity. Moreover, carnosol exerted its therapeutic effects in the chronic stage of EAE, and, remarkably, switched the phenotypes of infiltrated macrophage/microglia. Taken together, our results show that carnosol has enormous potential for development as a therapeutic agent for autoimmune diseases such as MS
