Anomalous gauge couplings of the Higgs boson at the CERN LHC: Semileptonic mode in WW scatterings
We make a full tree level study of the signatures of anomalous gauge
couplings of the Higgs boson at the CERN LHC via the semileptonic decay mode in
WW scatterings. Both signals and backgrounds are studied at the hadron level
for the Higgs mass in the range 115 GeV to 200 GeV. We carefully impose
suitable kinematical cuts for suppressing the backgrounds. To the same
sensitivity as in the pure leptonic mode, our result shows that the
semileptonic mode can reduce the required integrated luminosity by a factor of
3. If the anomalous couplings in nature are actually larger than the
sensitivity bounds shown in the text, the experiment can start the test for an

The Online Data Quality Monitoring System at BESIII
The online Data Quality Monitoring (DQM) plays an important role in the data
taking process of HEP experiments. BESIII DQM samples data from online data
flow, reconstructs them with offline reconstruction software, and automatically
analyzes the reconstructed data with user-defined algorithms. The DQM software
is a scalable distributed system. The monitored results are gathered and
displayed in various formats, which provides the shifter with current run
information that can be used to find problems early. This paper gives an

Chinese herbal injections in combination with radiotherapy for advanced pancreatic cancer: A systematic review and network meta-analysis.
Advanced pancreatic cancer (APC) is a fatal disease with limited treatment options. This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness and safety of different Chinese herbal injections (CHIs) as adjuvants for radiotherapy (RT) in APC and compare their treatment potentials using network meta-analysis. We systematically searched three English and four Chinese databases for randomized controlled trials (RCTs) from inception to July 25, 2023. The primary outcome was the objective response rate (ORR). Secondary outcomes included Karnofsky performance status (KPS) score, overall survival (OS), and adverse events (AEs). The treatment potentials of different CHIs were ranked using the surface under the cumulative ranking curve (SUCRA). The Cochrane RoB 2 tool and CINeMA were used for quality assessment and evidence grading. Eighteen RCTs involving 1199 patients were included. Five CHIs were evaluated. Compound Kushen injection (CKI) combined with RT significantly improved ORR compared to RT alone (RR 1.49, 95Β % CrI 1.21-1.86). Kanglaite (KLT) plus RT (RR 1.58, 95Β % CrI 1.20-2.16) and CKI plus RT (RR 1.49, 95Β % CrI 1.16-1.95) were associated with improved KPS score compared to radiation monotherapy, with KLT+RT being the highest rank (SUCRA 72.28Β %). Regarding AEs, CKI plus RT was the most favorable in reducing the incidence of leukopenia (SUCRA 90.37Β %) and nausea/vomiting (SUCRA 85.79Β %). CKI may be the optimal choice of CHIs to combine with RT for APC as it may improve clinical response, quality of life, and reduce AEs. Acoustic Three-dimensional Chern Insulators with Arbitrary Chern Vectors
The Chern vector is a vectorial generalization of the scalar Chern number,
being able to characterize the topological phase of three-dimensional (3D)
Chern insulators. Such a vectorial generalization extends the applicability of
Chern-type bulk-boundary correspondence from one-dimensional (1D) edge states
to two-dimensional (2D) surface states, whose unique features, such as forming
nontrivial torus knots or links in the surface Brillouin zone, have been
demonstrated recently in 3D photonic crystals. However, since it is still
unclear how to achieve an arbitrary Chern vector, so far the surface-state
torus knots or links can emerge, not on the surface of a single crystal as in
other 3D topological phases, but only along an internal domain wall between two
crystals with perpendicular Chern vectors. Here, we extend the 3D Chern
insulator phase to acoustic crystals for sound waves, and propose a scheme to
construct an arbitrary Chern vector that allows the emergence of surface-state
torus knots or links on the surface of a single crystal. These results provide
a complete picture of bulk-boundary correspondence for Chern vectors, and may
find use in novel applications in topological acoustics
Analysis of the expression level and predictive value of CLEC16A|miR-654-5p|RARA regulatory axis in the peripheral blood of patients with ischemic stroke based on biosignature analysis
IntroductionIschemic stroke (IS) is a cerebrovascular disease that can be disabling and fatal, and there are limitations in the clinical treatment and prognosis of IS. It has been reported that changes in the expression profile of circRNAs have been found during injury in ischemic stroke, and circRNAs play an important role in the IS cascade response. However, the specific mechanisms involved in the pathogenesis of IS are not yet fully understood, and thus in-depth studies are needed.MethodsIn this study, one circRNA dataset (GSE161913), one miRNA dataset (GSE60319) and one mRNA dataset (GSE180470) were retrieved from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database and included, and the datasets were differentially expressed analyzed by GEO2R and easyGEO to get the DEcircRNA, DEmiRNA and DEmRNA, and DEmRNA was enriched using ImageGP, binding sites were predicted in the ENCORI database, respectively, and the competitive endogenous RNA (ceRNA) regulatory network was visualized by the cytoscape software, and then selected by MCC scoring in the cytoHubba plugin Hub genes. In addition, this study conducted a caseβcontrol study in which blood samples were collected from stroke patients and healthy medical examiners to validate the core network of ceRNAs constructed by biosignature analysis by real-time fluorescence quantitative qRT-PCR experiments.ResultsA total of 233 DEcircRNAs, 132 DEmiRNAs and 72 DEmRNAs were screened by bioinformatics analysis. circRNA-mediated ceRNA regulatory network was constructed, including 148 circRNAs, 43 miRNAs and 44 mRNAs. Finally, CLEC16A|miR-654-5p|RARA competitive endogenous regulatory axis was selected for validation by qRT-PCR, and the validation results were consistent with the bioinformatics analysis.DiscussionIn conclusion, the present study establishes a new axis of regulation associated with IS, providing new insights into the pathogenesis of IS
Generation and Role of Oscillatory Contractions in Mouse Airway Smooth Muscle
Background/Aims: Tetraethylammonium chloride (TEA) induces oscillatory contractions in mouse airway smooth muscle (ASM); however, the generation and maintenance of oscillatory contractions and their role in ASM are unclear. Methods: In this study, oscillations of ASM contraction and intracellular Ca2+ were measured using force measuring and Ca2+ imaging technique, respectively. TEA, nifedipine, niflumic acid, acetylcholine chloride, lithium chloride, KB-R7943, ouabain, 2-Aminoethoxydiphenyl borate, thapsigargin, tetrodotoxin, and ryanodine were used to assess the mechanism of oscillatory contractions. Results: TEA induced depolarization, resulting in activation of L-type voltage-dependent Ca2+ channels (LVDCCs) and voltage-dependent Na+ (VNa) channels. The former mediated Ca2+ influx to trigger a contraction and the latter mediated Na+ entry to enhance the contraction via activating LVDCCs. Meanwhile, increased Ca2+-activated Cl- channels, inducing depolarization that resulted in contraction through LVDCCs. In addition, the contraction was enhanced by intracellular Ca2+ release from Ca2+ stores mediated by inositol (1,4,5)-trisphosphate receptors (IP3Rs). These pathways together produce the contractile phase of the oscillatory contractions. Furthermore, the increased Ca2+ activated the Na+-Ca2+ exchanger (NCX), which transferred Ca2+ out of and Na+ into the cells. The former induced relaxation and the latter activated Na+/K+-ATPase that induced hypopolarization to inactivate LVDCCs causing further relaxation. This can also explain the relaxant phase of the oscillatory contractions. Moreover, the depolarization induced by VNa channels and NCX might be greater than the hypopolarization caused by Na+/K+-ATPase alone, inducing LVDCC activation and resulting in further contraction. Conclusions: These data indicate that the TEA-induced oscillatory contractions were cooperatively produced by LVDCCs, VNa channels, Ca2+-activated Cl- channels, NCX, Na+/K+ ATPase, IP3Rs-mediated Ca2+ release, and extracellular Ca2+
An Integrated Meta-Analysis of Two Variants in HOXA1/HOXB1 and Their Effect on the Risk of Autism Spectrum Disorders
BACKGROUND: HOXA1 and HOXB1 have been strongly posed as candidate genes for autism spectrum disorders (ASD) given their important role in the development of hindbrain. The A218G (rs10951154) in HOXA1 and the insertion variant in HOXB1 (nINS/INS, rs72338773) were of special interest for ASD but with inconclusive results. Thus, we conducted a meta-analysis integrating case-control and transmission/disequilibrium test (TDT) studies to clearly discern the effect of these two variants in ASD. METHODS AND FINDINGS: Multiple electronic databases were searched to identify studies assessing the A218G and/or nINS/INS variant in ASD. Data from case-control and TDT studies were analyzed in an allelic model using the Catmap software. A total of 10 and 7 reports were found to be eligible for meta-analyses of A218G and nINS/INS variant, respectively. In overall meta-analysis, the pooled OR for the 218G allele and the INS allele was 0.97 (95% CIβ=β0.76-1.25, P(heterogeneity)β=β0.029) and 1.14 (95% CIβ=β0.97-1.33, P(heterogeneity)β=β0.269), respectively. No significant association was also identified between these two variants and ASD risk in stratified analysis. Further, cumulative meta-analysis in chronologic order showed the inclination toward null-significant association for both variants with continual adding studies. Additionally, although the between-study heterogeneity regarding the A218G is not explained by study design, ethnicity, and sample size, the sensitive analysis indicated the stability of the result. CONCLUSIONS: This meta-analysis suggests the HOXA1 A218G and HOXB1 nINS/INS variants may not contribute significantly to ASD risk
