Further measurement of the Be-7(p,gamma)B-8 cross section at low energies with the coulomb dissociation of B-8
We have measured the dissociation of B-8 in the Coulomb field of Pb-208 at E-in=51.9 MeV/nucleon and extracted the cross section of the Be-7(p,gamma)B-8 reaction at 0.4 less than or equal to E-rel less than or equal to 3 MeV, which is of importance for the B-8 solar-neutrino production rate. The extracted astrophysical S-17 factors are consistent with our earlier Coulomb dissociation measurement, and agree with the values deduced from the direct capture measurements by Filippone et al., Vaughn et al. and Hammache et al. The S factor at zero energy wad; extracted to be 18.9+/-1.8 eV-b with the help of theoretical energy-dependence
A new approach to a fast neutron facility
The facility is aimed at the production of a fast (40 to 75 MeV) monokinetic neutron beam, through the /sup 7/Li(p,n) reaction at 0 degrees . Contrary to the previous set-up, the incident charged beam is not bent by a magnet behind the Li target, but dumped and integrated in a Carbon Faraday cup. The target and the Faraday cup are enclosed in the center of a large iron shielding surrounded by a boron-load paraffin jacket.Anglai
On the Cosmic-ray Rejection Near a Radioactive Beam
The problem of cosmic-ray rejection in low counting rate experiments involving a radioactive nuclear beam is considered. Two possible solutions, i.e. the use of plexiglas and silica aerogel as Cherenkov radiators, are presented
About the neutron yield from the p+C-13 interaction at 30MeV
Results for the neutron yield from the p + C-13 interaction at 30 MeV are presented, which solve a recent inconsistency between the 90 MeV and the 30MeV neutron yields. (c) 2005 Flsevier B.V. All rights reserved
Production of N-13 radioactive nuclei from (p13, n) or O-16 (p, alpha) reactions
Total cross sections for the p+13C and p+16O reactions were measured by the activation method up to 30 MeV. Yields of N13 and of other produced nuclei (11C,15O) were obtained. © 1989 The American Physical Society.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
Production of O-14, O-15, F-18, and Ne-19 radioactive nuclei from (p, n) reactions up to 30 MeV
Total cross sections for proton-induced reactions on N14,15, O18, and F19 targets were measured by the activation method, up to 30 MeV. Yields of nuclei of astrophysical interest, i.e. O14,15, F18, Ne19 were obtained. © 1990 The American Physical Society.SCOPUS: ar.jinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishe
A Low-cost Plastic Detector for Energetic Neutrons
A neutron detector made by stacking units of 1 cm thick plexiglas and 1 mm thick plastic scintillator has been built, tested with 63 MeV and 40 MeV neutrons and compared with a plastic scintillator of the same total volume
