Explore Physics Beyond the Standard Model with GLAST

We give an overview of the possibility of GLAST to explore theories beyond the Standard Model of particle physics. Among the wide taxonomy we will focus in particular on low scale supersymmetry and theories with extra space-time dimensions. These theories give a suitable dark matter candidate whose interactions and composition can be studied using a gamma ray probe. We show the possibility of GLAST to disentangle such exotic signals from a standard production background.Comment: 4 pages, 3 figure

Supersymmetry Breaking, Extra Dimensions and Neutralino Dark Matter

We show some phenomenological implications for the dark matter problem of a class of models with deflected anomaly mediated supersymmetry breaking in the context of the MSSM. This scenario can be naturally embedded in a brane world model with one compactified extra dimension. It turns out that in these models the neutralino is still the LSP and so a good candidate as cold dark matter. We found that the neutralino is quite a pure bino in almost all the parameter space. Moreover we computed the thermal relic density and we found wide cosmologically allowed regions for the neutralino.Comment: 9 pages, 5 figures; typos removed and some minor correction. Quark mass hierarchies in D-brane realizations of the Standard Model

This proceeding is based on arXiv:0905.3044. We analyze the problem of the hierarchy of masses and mixings in orientifold realizations of the Standard Model. We present a bottom-up brane configuration that can generate such hierarchies.Comment: Prepared for the 9th Hellenic School on Elementary Particle Physics (CORFU2009), Corfu, Greece, 30 Aug - 20 Sep 2009. Supersymmetry Breaking in a Minimal Anomalous Extension of the MSSM

We study a supersymmetry breaking mechanism in the context of a minimal anomalous extension of the MSSM. The anomaly cancellation mechanism is achieved through suitable counterterms in the effective action, i.e. Green-Schwarz terms. We assume that the standard MSSM superpotential is perturbatively realized, i.e. all terms allowed by gauge symmetries, except for the ÎĽ\mu-term which has a non-perturbative origin. The presence of this term is expected in many intersecting D-brane models which can be considered as the ultraviolet completion of our model. We show how soft supersymmetry breaking terms arise in this framework and we study the effect of some phenomenological constraints on this scenario.Comment: 31 pages, 13 figures, pdflatex, revised final versio

Deflected Anomaly Mediation and Neutralino Dark Matter

We study the phenomenology of the neutralino dark matter in the so called deflected anomaly mediation scenario. This scheme is obtained from the minimal anomaly mediated scenario by introducing a gauge mediated sector with NfN_f messenger fields. Unlike the former scheme the latter has no tachyons. We find that the neutralino is still the LSP in a wide region of the parameter space: it is essentially a pure bino in the scenario with Nf=1N_f=1 while it can also be a pure higgsino for Nf>1N_f>1. This is very different from the naive anomaly mediated scenario which predicts a wino like neutralino. Moreover we do not find any tachyonic scalars in this scheme. After computing the relic density (considering all the possible coannihilations) we find that there are regions in the parameter space with values compatible with the latest WMAP results with no need to consider moduli fields that decay in the early universe.Comment: 23 pages, 6 figures, submitted to Phys.
