Intrinsic coherence in assisted sub-state discrimination
We study intrinsic coherence in the tripartite process to unambiguously
discriminate two nonorthogonal states of a qubit, entangled with another one,
and assisted by an auxiliary system. The optimal success probability is found
to be benefited by initial intrinsic coherence, but no extra one is required.
The transformations among different contributions of intrinsic coherence are
necessary in this procedure, which increase with the overlap between the states
to recognize. Such state discrimination is a key step of the probabilistic
teleportation protocol. Entanglement of the quantum channel decreases the
coherence characterizing the reliance on an ancilla.Comment: 6 pages with 4 figure
Direct Observation of Long-Term Durability of Superconductivity in YBaCuO-AgO Composites
We report direct observation of long-term durability of superconductivity of
several YBaCuO-AgO composites that were first prepared and
studied almost 14 years ago [J. J. Lin {\it et al}., Jpn. J. Appl. Phys. {\bf
29}, 497 (1990)]. Remeasurements performed recently on both resistances and
magnetizations indicate a sharp critical transition temperature at 91 K. We
also find that such long-term environmental stability of high-temperature
superconductivity can only be achieved in YBaCuO with AgO
addition, but not with pure Ag addition.Comment: to be published in Jpn. J. Appl. Phy
A New Semi-supervised Clustering Algorithm Based on Variational Bayesian and Its Application
Biclustering algorithm is proposed for discovering matrix with biological significance in gene expression data matrix and it is used widely in machine learning which can cluster the row and column of matrix. In order to further improve the performance of biclustering algorithm, this paper proposes a semi-supervised clustering algorithm based on variational Bayesian. Firstly, it introduces supplementary information of row and column for biclustering process and represents corresponding joint distribution probability model. In addition, it estimates the parameter of joint distribution probability model based on variational Bayesian learning method. Finally, it estimates the performance of proposed algorithm through synthesized data and real gene expression data set. Experiments show that normalized mutual information of this paper’s new method is better than relevant biclustering algorithms for biclustering analysis
Examination of Four Channels of Flow
The four channels of flow (Csikszentmihalyi & Csikszentmihaly, 1988) posit that high and low levels of skills and challenges comprise flow, boredom, frustration, and apathy. This theory has been frequently applied to explanation of flow formulation. This theory, however, lacks empirical evidences on if high/low skill/challenge formulates the four channels. Empirical evidence of the formulation of the four channels of flow is necessary for ensuring its validity. This study thus sampled 253 online gamers to examine whether skills and challenges formulate the four channels of flow. Consistent with the theory of the four channels of flow, this study found that gaming skill is positively related to flow and boredom, whereas negatively related to frustration and apathy. Challenge encountered in gaming is positively related to flow, frustration, whereas negatively related to apathy. However, this study did not observe a theoretical negative relation between challenge and boredom, indicating the necessity for future research
