Layer-refined Graph Convolutional Networks for Recommendation
Recommendation models utilizing Graph Convolutional Networks (GCNs) have
achieved state-of-the-art performance, as they can integrate both the node
information and the topological structure of the user-item interaction graph.
However, these GCN-based recommendation models not only suffer from
over-smoothing when stacking too many layers but also bear performance
degeneration resulting from the existence of noise in user-item interactions.
In this paper, we first identify a recommendation dilemma of over-smoothing and
solution collapsing in current GCN-based models. Specifically, these models
usually aggregate all layer embeddings for node updating and achieve their best
recommendation performance within a few layers because of over-smoothing.
Conversely, if we place learnable weights on layer embeddings for node
updating, the weight space will always collapse to a fixed point, at which the
weighting of the ego layer almost holds all. We propose a layer-refined GCN
model, dubbed LayerGCN, that refines layer representations during information
propagation and node updating of GCN. Moreover, previous GCN-based
recommendation models aggregate all incoming information from neighbors without
distinguishing the noise nodes, which deteriorates the recommendation
performance. Our model further prunes the edges of the user-item interaction
graph following a degree-sensitive probability instead of the uniform
distribution. Experimental results show that the proposed model outperforms the
state-of-the-art models significantly on four public datasets with fast
training convergence. The implementation code of the proposed method is

Suan Zao Ren Tang
Insomnia is a serious worldwide health problem that is often comorbid with anxiety. The purpose of the present study was to evaluate the efficacy of a Chinese formula containing Suan Zao Ren Tang (SZRT) and Zhi Zi Chi Tang (ZZCT; SZR-ZZC) for improving sleep quality and anxiety states with four indices of Polysomnography (PSG), the Insomnia Severity Index (ISI), the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), and the Self Rating Anxiety Scale (SAS). Methods. A randomized, parallel-controlled trial compared SZR-ZZC to lorazepam tablet in insomniacs with anxiety. Patients were randomized to the SZR-ZZC treatment group (n=60) and the lorazepam tablet treatment group (n=59). Results. SZR-ZZC significantly improved scores on all four treatment indices. Compared with lorazepam, treatment with SZR-ZZC resulted in a significant reduction in the ISI (P=0.029), the PSQI (P=0.017), and wake after sleep onset (WASO; P=0.008) scores and improved sleep architecture (P=0.000–0.003) after a 4-week treatment period. Only one subject in the SZR-ZZC group experienced adverse side effects. Conclusion. Treatment with SZR-ZZC for 4 weeks appears to be a relatively safe and effective complementary therapeutic option when aiming to improve sleep quality and anxiety in insomniacs with anxiety
A tunable plasmonic refractive index sensor with nanoring-strip graphene arrays
In this paper, a tunable plasmonic refractive index sensor with
nanoring-strip graphene arrays is numerically investigated by the finite
difference time domain (FDTD) method. The simulation results exhibit that by
changing the sensing medium refractive index nmed of the structure, the sensing
range of the system is large. By changing the doping level ng, we noticed that
the transmission characteristics can be adjusted flexibly. The resonance
wavelength remains entirely the same and the transmission dip enhancement over
a big range of incidence angles [0,45] for both TM and TE polarizations, which
indicates that the resonance of the graphene nanoring-strip arrays is
insensitive to angle polarization. The above results are undoubtedly a new way
to realize various tunable plasmon devices, and may have a great application
prospect in biosensing, detection and imaging
MiRNA-145 increases therapeutic sensibility to gemcitabine treatment of pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells.
Pancreatic adenocarcinoma is one of the most leading causes of cancer-related deaths worldwide. Although recent advances provide various treatment options, pancreatic adenocarcinoma has poor prognosis due to its late diagnosis and ineffective therapeutic multimodality. Gemcitabine is the effective first-line drug in pancreatic adenocarcinoma treatment. However, gemcitabine chemoresistance of pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells has been a major obstacle for limiting its treatment effect. Our study found that p70S6K1 plays an important role in gemcitabine chemoresistence. MiR-145 is a tumor suppressor which directly targets p70S6K1 for inhibiting its expression in pancreatic adenocarcinoma, providing new therapeutic scheme. Our findings revealed a new mechanism underlying gemcitabine chemoresistance in pancreatic adenocarcinoma cells

Analysis of relationship among visual evoked potential, oscillatory potential and visual acuity under stimulated weightlessness
AIM: To observe the influence of head-down tilt simulated weightlessness on visual evoked potential(VEP), oscillatory potentials(OPs)and visual acuity, and analyse the relationship among them. METHODS: Head-down tilt for -6° was adopted in 14 healthy volunteers. Distant visual acuity, near visual acuity, VEP and OPs were recorded before, two days and five days after trial. The record procedure of OPs followed the ISCEV standard for full-field clinical electroretinography(2008 update). RESULTS: Significant differences were detected in the amplitude of P100 waves and ∑OPs among various time points(P<0.05). But no relationship was observed among VEP, OPs and visual acuity. CONCLUSION: Head-down tilt simulated weightlessness induce the rearrange of blood of the whole body including eyes, which can make the change of visual electrophysiology but not visual acuity
