Ultrastructure of a Mobile Threadlike Tissue Floating in a Lymph Vessel

    Get PDF
Observations of the primo vascular system (PVS) floating in lymph ducts were reported by various groups. There have been, however, no studies on the ultrastructure of the entire cross section of a primo vessel (PV) inside a lymph vessel with a transmission electron microscope (TEM). In the current study we took the TEM images of a cross section of the PV inside a lymph vessel. We used the Alcian blue staining method for the finding of the target PV in a lymphatic vessel by injecting the dye into the inguinal lymph nodes. The stained PV was harvested together with the lymph vessel and some parts of the specimens were used for studying with optical microscopes. Some other parts were treated according to a standard protocol for TEM. As the results the TEM study revealed the loosely distributed collagen fibers with plenty of empty spaces and the lumens with the endothelial nuclei. It turned out to be very similar to the ultrastructure of the PVs observed on the surfaces of internal organs. It also showed how compactly the PV is surrounded with lymphocytes. In conclusion, the detailed morphological features like the distribution of fibers in the PV were revealed and shown to be similar to another kind of the PV on the surfaces of internal organs

Network anomaly detection is a technology that collects information about flows on a network and detects malicious attacks occurring in a network in real time. In-band Network Telemetry (INT) technology provides more detailed information in real time, that is not provided by existing networks, such as hop latency and queue occupancy. In this paper, we propose the method to implement an anomaly detection system with higher performance by using INT as an input feature of machine learning and verify it through experiments.22Nkc

Microplastics in water systems: A review of their impacts on the environment and their potential hazards

    No full text
Microplastics, the microscopic plastics, are fragments of any type of plastic that are being produced today as plastic waste originating from anthropogenic activities. Such microplastics are discharged into the environment, and they enter back into the human body through different means. The microplastics spread in the environment due to environmental factors and the inherent properties of microplastics, such as density, hydrophobicity, and recalcitrance, and then eventually enter the water environment. In this study, to better understand the behavior of microplastics in the water environment, an extensive literature review was conducted on the occurrence of microplastics in aquatic environments categorized by seawater, wastewater, and freshwater. We summarized the abundance and distribution of microplastics in the water environment and studied the environmental factors affecting them in detail. In addition, focusing on the sampling and pretreatment processes that can limit the analysis results of microplastics, we discussed in depth the sampling methods, density separation, and organic matter digestion methods for each water environment. Finally, the potential hazards posed by the behavior of aging microplastics, such as adsorption of pollutants or ingestion by aquatic organisms, due to exposure to the environment were also investigated

Is Lockdown Bad for Social Anxiety in COVID-19 Regions?: A National Study in The SOR Perspective

    No full text
Lockdown measures have been widely used to control and prevent virus transmission in pandemic regions. However, the psychological effects of lockdown measures have been neglected, and the related theoretical research lags behind the practice. The present study aimed to better understand the mechanism of social anxiety in pandemic regions where the lockdown measures were imposed, based on the conceptual framework of the Stimulus-Organism-Response (SOR). For that, this research investigated how lockdown measures and psychological distance influenced social anxiety in the pandemic region. The Chinese national data was analyzed for the outcome. The results showed that (1) psychological distance mediated the relationship between pandemic COVID-19 severity and social anxiety, (2) lockdown measures buffered the detrimental effect of the COVID-19 pandemic severity on social anxiety, (3) lockdown measures moderated the mediation effect of psychological distancing on social anxiety caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. In conclusion, under the SOR framework, the lockdown measures had a buffer effect on social anxiety in pandemic regions, with the mediating role of psychological distancing

Ultrasound biomicroscopic study of the effects of topical latanoprost on the anterior segment and ciliary body thickness in dogs

Objective The goal of this study was to evaluate the effects of topical latanoprost on the anterior segment and ciliary body using ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) in dogs. Animals studied This study included six eyes of six clinically normal beagles. Procedures UBM scans were performed on six sedated dogs before and 2 h after topical latanoprost instillation. From the next day on, latanoprost was topically applied twice daily for 7 days. After 1 week of instillation, the UBM scans were repeated. The ciliary body thickness (CBT) and the anterior segment parameters, including the iridocorneal angle (ICA), the width of the ciliary cleft (CC) entry, the length of the CC, and the width of the mid-CC, were measured. Results The topical latanoprost decreased the ICA and CC entry width and increased the mid-CC width without any significant alterations in the CC length. There were time-dependent alterations in the CBT: a reduction in the CBT after 2 h of instillation and rebound thickening after 1 week of instillation. Conclusions The topical latanoprost widened the ciliary cleft despite the narrowing of the ICA and CC entry. Time-dependent alterations in the CBT were demonstrated by the UBM and might be a reflection of the mechanism of the uveoscleral outflow enhancement induced by the topical latanoprost.N

Which Influencers Can Maximize PCR of E-Commerce?

    No full text
The Web has provided an increasing proportion of use as a medium for e-commerce in addition to various recommender systems. It can be used for analyzing recommendation system-based feedback (e.g., a form in which a user inputs their preferences for various items as numerical values into a specific evaluation system) to estimate customer interest; in addition, analyzing multi-modal types of feedback (e.g., product purchase traces, inquiry lists, inquiry times, and comments) with deep learning can also be used to estimate user interest. As many companies around the world promote their products through micro-influencers on the Web, related research has continued to predict the purchase conversion rate of the influencer through a variety of technologies. In this work, we present a multi-modal micro-influencer analysis scheme for a marketing maximization strategy. Our scheme uses the multi-modal data stored in Mecha Solutionโ€™s own shopping mall of Korea, as well as famous Korean Internet platforms, and Coupang, Naver, and Oliveyoungโ€™s data such as article posting comments and statistics information. By extracting the main characteristics of the real article postings from real users as opposed to those from factitious influencers posting articles and comments and identifying articles other than advertisements, influencer scores are obtained, assuming that articles other than advertisements can further increase the purchase conversion rate. Based on influencer score, we propose a multi-modal micro-influencer analysis scheme that recommends influencers use content-based collaborative filtering and user-based collaborative filtering for items that the influencer has not yet reviewed. The experiment was implemented to prove that the proposed scheme successfully achieves this goal
