The application of the Medina model to the flowcurve of hot deformation has been discussed. Usingthe quick fit function of 1stOpt software, therelationship between various model coefficientsand a dimensionless parameter Z/A has been built.Using a classification method of the Medina model, the flow curves of 50A1300 silicon steel are builtand R^2 of 0.979436 and the average relative errorof 7,3517% are obtained. Then using arecrystallization model of the Medina model, theflow curves of 45K-DDQ are built and R^2 of0,974373 and the average relative error of6,1453% are obtained. In addition, the flow curvemodel is programmed in Matlab environment sothat true stress could be automatically obtained. Finally, the whole fitting method and piecewisefitting method are compared when using theMedina model for solving the model parameters ofthe dynamic recrystallization flow curve

    Factors Affecting Ion Thruster’s Performance

In this project, we investigated how ion thrusters produce propulsion and how the design of ion thrusters affects the performance of the thruster. In the experiment, we build a high voltage power supply (0- 50 kV) and foil rings to produce ion wind. When considering the design of the thruster, we focus on three variables: the volume of the space, where ions are produced and the electric field intensity. Thus, to investigate the first variable we made foil rings with different radius and change the distance between the ring and positive cathode. To determine the propulsion produced we use a speed sensor to determine the magnitude of the wind produced

A Critical Role for Myosin IIB in Dendritic Spine Morphology and Synaptic Function

    Get PDF
Dendritic spines show rapid motility and plastic morphology, which may mediate information storage in the brain. It is presently believed that polymerization/depolymerization of actin is the primary determinant of spine motility and morphogenesis. Here, we show that myosin IIB, a molecular motor that binds and contracts actin filaments, is essential for normal spine morphology and dynamics and represents a distinct biophysical pathway to control spine size and shape. Myosin IIB is enriched in the postsynaptic density (PSD) of neurons. Pharmacologic or genetic inhibition of myosin IIB alters protrusive motility of spines, destabilizes their classical mushroom-head morphology, and impairs excitatory synaptic transmission. Thus, the structure and function of spines is regulated by an actin-based motor in addition to the polymerization state of actin

Effect of Methionine Restriction on Bone Density and NK Cell Activity

Methionine restriction (MR) is proven to increase the lifespan; and it also affects the bone density and the innate immune system. The aim of this study is to explore the effect of methionine restriction on bone density and natural killer (NK) cells. C57BL/6J mice were subjected to either basal diet (BD, containing 0.80% methionine) or methionine-restricted diet (containing 0.14% methionine). Mice with MR diet displayed reduced bone mass and decrease in the cytotoxicity of NK from the spleen, compared to BD animals. Also, mice with MR diet had an inferior body weight (P<0.05) and higher plasma levels of adiponectin and FGF21 (P<0.05) but lower concentrations of leptin and IGF-1 (P<0.05). Overall, the investigation shows that methionine affects bone density and NK cell cytotoxicity

Are ionic liquids pairwise in gas phase? A cluster approach and in situ IR study †

In this work, we discussed the vaporization and gas species of ionic liquids (ILs) by a cluster approach of quantum statistical thermodynamics proposed by R. Luwig (Phys. Chem. Chem. Phys., 10, 4333), which is a controversial issue up to date. Based on the different sized clusters (2-12 ion-pairs) of the condensed phase, the molar enthalpies of vaporization (D va

Distributed admission control for anycast flows

Abstract—Anycasting has recently become an important research topic, especially for replicated servers. With anycasting, applications can request the “nearest ” server for provision of desired (multimedia) service. In this paper, we study efficient Distributed Admission Control (DAC) for anycast flows. We focus on algorithms that perform destination selection and efficient path establishment. Taking advantage of anycasting, our distributed algorithms differ from each other in their dependence on system status information. Performance data obtained through mathematical analysis and simulations show that, in terms of admission probabilities, DAC systems that are based on local status information have performance levels close to those that utilize global and dynamic status information. This renders our DAC algorithms useful not only for the network layer, but also for the application layer admission control for anycast flows. Index Terms—Admission control, anycast service and flow, destination selection, weight assignment.
