Economic uncertainty and bank risk: the moderating role of risk governance
Uncertainty is an economically important risk factor in the banking sector. Using a sample of Chinese listed commercial banks
over the period 2005 2018, this research conducted pooled OLS
and found evidence that economic uncertainty significantly
increases bank risk and lowers profitability. Furthermore, we constructed a partial equilibrium model to explain how risk governance alters the risk-increasing effect and profit-decreasing effect
of economic uncertainty on bank risk and profitability. Consistent
with theory, empirical results suggested the effects of economic
uncertainty on bank risk and performance tend to be considerably weaker when there exists a strong risk governance mechanism. These findings stand when subjected to several endogeneity
and robustness checks. Risk governance plays a key role in weakening the detrimental consequences of economic uncertainty on
banks and promoting a sustainable growth of the banking sector.
A financial regulator entity should require banks to establish a
sound risk governance system in order to mitigate financial systemic risk and safeguard overall financial stabilit
Clinical efficacy of a combination of propofol and etomidate in pediatric anesthesia, and its effect on vital indices in patients
Purpose: To study the clinical effectiveness of a combination of propofol and etomidate as pediatric anesthesia, and its influence on some vital factors in the patients. Methods: A total of 104 children who underwent appendectomy, hepatobiliary surgery and excision of bone tumor in Xuzhou Children's Hospital, Xuzhou Medical University, Xuzhou, China from June 2018 to June 2020, were selected for this retrospective study. The patients were divided into groups A, B and C. In group A, 40 patients received the combination of propofol and etomidate, 32 patients received propofol only, while group C comprised 32 patients who received etomidate only. Vital indices such as anesthesia induction time, wake-up time after surgery, anesthetic effect, and adverse reactions were determined. Results: In group A, the mean arterial pressure (MAP) and heart rate (HR) were improved; anesthesia induction time and wake-up time after surgery were shorter, and anesthetic effect was more obvious in children with grades I and II. However, there was no grade III anesthetic effect, although there was a lower incidence of adverse reactions in this group. Conclusion: The use of a combination of propofol and etomidate results in higher clinical efficacy of pediatric anesthesia than either propofol or etomidate alone. Furthermore, the combination produces better quality of vital indices in the patients

Pulmonary alveolar type I cell population consists of two distinct subtypes that differ in cell fate.
Pulmonary alveolar type I (AT1) cells cover more than 95% of alveolar surface and are essential for the air-blood barrier function of lungs. AT1 cells have been shown to retain developmental plasticity during alveolar regeneration. However, the development and heterogeneity of AT1 cells remain largely unknown. Here, we conducted a single-cell RNA-seq analysis to characterize postnatal AT1 cell development and identified insulin-like growth factor-binding protein 2 (Igfbp2) as a genetic marker specifically expressed in postnatal AT1 cells. The portion of AT1 cells expressing Igfbp2 increases during alveologenesis and in post pneumonectomy (PNX) newly formed alveoli. We found that the adult AT1 cell population contains both Hopx+Igfbp2+ and Hopx+Igfbp2- AT1 cells, which have distinct cell fates during alveolar regeneration. Using an Igfbp2-CreER mouse model, we demonstrate that Hopx+Igfbp2+ AT1 cells represent terminally differentiated AT1 cells that are not able to transdifferentiate into AT2 cells during post-PNX alveolar regeneration. Our study provides tools and insights that will guide future investigations into the molecular and cellular mechanism or mechanisms underlying AT1 cell fate during lung development and regeneration
Research on surface roughness of circular arc cut by ASJ
Zaključci mogu poslužiti kao teorijski vodič za poboljšanje učinkovitosti rezanja pomoću ASJ.Full factorial design of experiments was developed in order to investigate the effects of jet pressure, cutting feed, and circular arc radius upon the one response variable surface roughness of circular arc cut by abrasive suspension jet (ASJ). And orthogonal design of experiments was used for analysing the magnitude of effects of parameters on roughness of the cutting surface at different depths. Slowing down the traverse speed is the most effective method to reduce the surface roughness. In addition, comparing the topography of the cutting surface with that by AWJ, it is found that the surface also consists of four zones: initial zone, smooth zone, transition zone and rough zone. Finally, the multiple linear regression was employed to establish the model of cutting surface roughness at different depths, which was proved to be reliable by experiments. The conclusions can provide theoretical guidance for improving the cutting efficiency of ASJ
Development of a novel humanized anti-TSLP monoclonal antibody HZ-1127 with anti-allergic diseases and cancer potential.
Thymic stromal lymphopoietin (TSLP) is a member of the IL-2 cytokine family and has been widely recognized as a master regulator of type 2 inflammatory responses at barrier surfaces. Recent studies found dysregulation of the TSLP-TSLP receptor (TSLPR) pathway is associated with the pathogenesis of not only allergic diseases but also a wide variety of cancers including both solid tumors and hematological tumors. Thus, the blockade of TSLP represents an attractive therapeutic strategy for allergic diseases and cancer. In this study, we report the development of a novel humanized anti-TSLP monoclonal antibody (mAb) HZ-1127. Binding affinity, specificity, and ability of HZ-1127 in inhibiting TSLP were tested. HZ-1127 selectively binds to the TSLP cytokine with high affinity and specificity. Furthermore, HZ-1127 dramatically inhibits TSLP-dependent STAT5 activation and is more potent than Tezepelumab, which is an FDA-approved humanized mAb against TSLP for severe asthma treatment in inhibiting TSLP-induced CCL17 and CCL22 chemokines secretion in human peripheral blood mononuclear cells. Our pre-clinical study demonstrates that HZ-1127 may serve as a potential therapeutic agent for allergic diseases and cancer
