Los registros públicos a la luz de la legislación alimentaria
The aim of the paper is an attempt to indicate the features of registers in food law, as well as to assess the legal regulation in terms of adequacy for the purposes of food law. A feature of registers in food law is their public nature and regulation of access to public information, and therefore their universality and openness. All these registers have an information, evidence and record function. They are an instrument used to achieve the objectives of food law, mainly within the framework of the EU's official food control system. It is thanks to the registers that it is also possible to classify events in the categories of public statistics, necessary in planning and managing the economy.
Does the use of cardiopulmonary resuscitation feedback devices improve the quality of chest compressions performed by doctors? A prospective, randomized, cross-over simulation study
Background: The aim of the study was to compare the quality of chest compressions (CCs) carried out with and without the use of the TrueCPR device during simulated cardiopulmonary resuscitations conducted by trainee doctors.
Methods: The study was a prospective, randomized, cross-over simulation study. The study involved 65 trainee doctors who were tasked with performing a 2-min cycle of uninterrupted CCs under conditions of a simulated cardiopulmonary resuscitation of adults. CC were carried out in two scenarios: with and without TrueCPR chest compression support. Participants did not have experience in the use of CCs prior to this study.
Results: The depth of compressions in regard to CC techniques were varied by 45 mm (IQR 43–48) for manual CC and 53 mm (IQR 51–55) for the TrueCPR device (p < 0.001). The incidence of CCs with and without TrueCPR was: 112 (IQR 103–113) vs. 129 (IQR 122–135) compressions (p = 0.002). The degree of complete chest relaxation with the TrueCPR device was 95% (IQR 76–99) and without the device, 33% (IQR 29–38) (p < 0.001).
Conclusions: In the simulation study performed, the use of the TrueCPR device resulted in a significant improvement in the quality of CCs in relation to frequency and depth of CCs and correctness of chest relaxation
Administration of Thimerosal to Infant Rats Increases Overflow of Glutamate and Aspartate in the Prefrontal Cortex: Protective Role of Dehydroepiandrosterone Sulfate
Thimerosal, a mercury-containing vaccine preservative, is a suspected factor in the etiology of neurodevelopmental disorders. We previously showed that its administration to infant rats causes behavioral, neurochemical and neuropathological abnormalities similar to those present in autism. Here we examined, using microdialysis, the effect of thimerosal on extracellular levels of neuroactive amino acids in the rat prefrontal cortex (PFC). Thimerosal administration (4 injections, i.m., 240 μg Hg/kg on postnatal days 7, 9, 11, 15) induced lasting changes in amino acid overflow: an increase of glutamate and aspartate accompanied by a decrease of glycine and alanine; measured 10–14 weeks after the injections. Four injections of thimerosal at a dose of 12.5 μg Hg/kg did not alter glutamate and aspartate concentrations at microdialysis time (but based on thimerosal pharmacokinetics, could have been effective soon after its injection). Application of thimerosal to the PFC in perfusion fluid evoked a rapid increase of glutamate overflow. Coadministration of the neurosteroid, dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEAS; 80 mg/kg; i.p.) prevented the thimerosal effect on glutamate and aspartate; the steroid alone had no influence on these amino acids. Coapplication of DHEAS with thimerosal in perfusion fluid also blocked the acute action of thimerosal on glutamate. In contrast, DHEAS alone reduced overflow of glycine and alanine, somewhat potentiating the thimerosal effect on these amino acids. Since excessive accumulation of extracellular glutamate is linked with excitotoxicity, our data imply that neonatal exposure to thimerosal-containing vaccines might induce excitotoxic brain injuries, leading to neurodevelopmental disorders. DHEAS may partially protect against mercurials-induced neurotoxicity

Lymphangioinvasion in routine H&E staining is strongly associated with poor clinical outcome in lymph node-negative cutaneous melanoma patients
Introduction. Lymphatic invasion (LYI) and lymphangiogenesis in the primary tumor are important processes related to the dissemination of neoplasms. The aim of the study was to examine the relationship of LYI status in cutaneous melanoma with patient survival and clinicopathological data.
Material and methods. LYI status was assessed in 104 hematoxylin-eosin (H&E) stained melanoma primary tumor samples and analyzed in relation to patient survival and other clinicopathological and histopathological characteristics.
Results. LYI was found in 30 (28.8%) patients. It was observed more frequently in ulcerated, proliferating, and thicker tumors. It correlated with the presence of sentinel lymph node, regional and distant metastases. The presence of LYI significantly correlated with shorter overall survival, cancer specific overall survival and disease-free survival in Kaplan-Meier analysis (all P < 0.001). Positive LYI status was a factor of unfavorable prognosis also in patients without regional lymph node metastases.
Conclusions. Our results support earlier observations that LYI is a powerful prognostic factor. We recommend an assessment of LYI status during routine review of cutaneous melanoma slides stained with H&E as a standard, potentially informative, yet economically beneficial procedure.
