HOUSEHOLD SIZE AND COMPOSITION IMPACTS ON MEAT DEMAND IN MEXICO: A CENSORED DEMAND SYSTEM APPROACH
The proposed paper adopts the censored demand system approach of Lee and Pitt (1986) to examine the structure of Mexican food demand. This approach uses the concept of virtual prices to explain specific purchase patterns. The contribution of our selected paper is the incorporation of the endogenous equivalence scale function proposed by Phlipps (1998) within this censored system. The contribution of this analysis is not only in terms of the use of an endogenous scaling function within a censored demand system, but we also will be use simulated maximum likelihood techniques which allows for the specification and estimation of significantly larger sized demand systems without the imposition of restrictive distributional assumptions on the equation error terms. We use a Gibbs sampling techniques to evaluate higher order truncated distributions required to implement the Lee and Pitt (1986) model specification.Demand and Price Analysis,
Sharp weighted Strichartz estimates and critical inhomogeneous Hartree equations
In this paper we study the Cauchy problem for the inhomogeneous Hartree
equation. Its well-posedness theory has been intensively studied in recent
several years, but much less is understood compared to the classical Hartree
model of homogeneous type. In particular, the problem on Sobolev initial data
with the Sobolev critical index remains unsolved. The main contribution of this
paper is to solve this critical problem. To this end, we obtain some
Strichartz estimates with singular weights and indeed sharpen them. As a
further application, we also solve the remaining unsolved problems for
inhomogeneous equations of power-type.Comment: 29 page
On local well-posedness of nonlinear dispersive equations with partially regular data
We revisit the local well-posedness theory of nonlinear Schr\"odinger and
wave equations in Sobolev spaces and , . The
theory has been well established over the past few decades under Sobolev
initial data regular with respect to all spatial variables. But here, we reveal
that the initial data do not need to have complete regularity like Sobolev
spaces, but only partially regularity with respect to some variables is
sufficient. To develop such a new theory, we suggest a refined Strichartz
estimate which has a different norm for each spatial variable. This makes it
possible to extract a different integrability/regularity of the data from each
variable.Comment: To appear in J. Differential Equations, 15 page
Damped Euler system with attractive Riesz interaction forces
We consider the barotropic Euler equations with pairwise attractive Riesz
interactions and linear velocity damping in the periodic domain. We establish
the global-in-time well-posedness theory for the system near an equilibrium
state. We also analyze the large-time behavior of solutions showing the
exponential rate of convergence toward the equilibrium state as time goes to
infinity.Comment: 24 page
Descriptive Analysis of Acceptance by Prescribers and Economic Benefit of Pharmacist Recommended Interventions in a Critical Care Unit
Background: Pharmacist clinical intervention is defined as the action that identifies and prevents medication-related problems and optimizes patient’s medication therapy in cooperation with other healthcare professionals. Types of clinical interventions may vary, but each is patient specific. Few studies have focused on clinical pharmacists interventions in a critical care setting at a rural hospital.
Objectives: The purpose of this study was to assess physician acceptance rate of pharmacist-recommended interventions in the critical care unit (CCU) at a rural hospital over five years and to evaluate the economic benefit of accepted pharmacist-recommended interventions over a one-year time period.
Methods: This study was a retrospective chart review over a five-year time period. Each intervention was categorized and analyzed for acceptance or non-acceptance by the treating physician. Evaluation of economic benefit, cost saving and cost avoidance, for a one-year time period was performed.
Results: A total of 1275 interventions were documented during study period. The average acceptance rate for documented interventions was 56%. The acceptance rate by physicians increased over the study period; with the acceptance rate in 2013 being statistically significantly higher than any other years. The overall cost saving for selected interventions was 453,339.36-$468,327.62.
Conclusion: Clinical pharmacists provide various types of interventions to improve patient care. The analysis of potential cost saving and cost avoidance of selected interventions illustrated a positive economic outcome.
