    CD4+ T cells from MHC II-dependent thymocyte–thymocyte interaction provide efficient help for B cells

    Recently, a novel CD4+ T-cell developmental pathway was reported that generates thymocyte–thymocyte (T–T) CD4+ T cells. We established a mouse system (CIITAtgCIITApIV−/−) where thymic positive selection occurred only by major histocompatibility complex (MHC) class II+ thymocytes. T–T CD4+ T cells selected via MHC class II-dependent T–T interaction are comprised of PLZF-negative and innate PLZF-positive populations. Until recently, the functional role of the PLZF-negative population was unclear. In this study, we demonstrate that naïve T–T CD4+ T cells provide B-cell help to a level comparable with that of naïve conventional CD4+ T cells. Considering the absence of PLZF expression in naïve T–T CD4+ T cells, these results suggest that PLZF-negative naïve T–T CD4+ T cells are functionally equivalent to conventional naïve CD4+ T cells in terms of B-cell help

    Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are promising techniques for high energy efficiency, fuel flexibility, and low pollutant emissions. For commercialization of SOFCs, it is required to decrease the operating temperature. At this intermediate temperature region, the cathodic polarization resistance significant due to the thermally activated oxygen reduction reaction (ORR). To compensate this, highly active cathode materials have been considered and lanthanum strontium cobalt ferrite (LSCF6428, La0.6Sr0.4Co0.2Fe0.8O3-δ) has been attracted as a cathode material for SOFCs because of its high mixed electronic and ionic conducting (MIEC) nature. However, one of the major concerns of LSCF6428 is the degradation during the long-term operation. Currently, Sr segregation has been reported as one of the major reasons for the LSCF degradation. In this study, we investigated LSCF2882 (La0.2Sr0.8Co0.8Fe0.2O3-δ) and compared with LSCF6428 as a SOFC cathode. X-ray diffraction (XRD) and Rietveld refinement were applied to analyze phase structures. By electrical conductivity relaxation (ECR) technique, Oxygen surface exchange coefficients (kchem) and chemical diffusion coefficients (Dchem) of LSCF2882 were evaluated and we observed enhancements compare to LSCF6428. For interpretation of enhanced oxygen transport kinetics, we tried to visualize the interstitial oxygen conduction pathways and the bond valence sum (BVS) mapping method was utilized by Valence program. BVS mapping results show clearly demonstrating the 3D network of the interstitial pathways at 600oC in LSCF2882. Electrochemical performances were investigated by EIS (Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy) and single cell performance was also evaluated. In addition, long-term stability test was performed for over 500 hours. LSCF2882 showed better performances and it exhibited no degradation during the stability test.     Functional and anatomical alterations in bilateral vestibulopathy: A multimodal neuroimaging study and clinical correlation

    ObjectTo study multimodal neuroimaging study including resting state functional MRI (rs-fMRI), anatomical connectivity and brain morphology in patients with bilateral vestibulopathy (BVP) and relationship with clinical correlation.MethodsThirteen patients with BVP (7 women; mean age ± SD = 63.5 ± 14.7 years, 22–80 years) and eighteen age and gender-matched controls were compared rs-fMRI and anatomical MRI. Also, we analyzed the relationship between multimodal neuroimaging and Dizziness Handicap Inventory score (DHI), Vestibular Disorders Activities of Daily Living Scale (VDRL), Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS) and Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS).ResultsCompared with controls, BVP patients showed decreased functional connectivity among the key nodes of the salience network, auditory (including vestibular) network, bilateral posterior parahippocampal gyri, bilateral paracingulate gyri, and right frontoparietal network, and the anatomical connectivity in the right cerebellum, corpus callosum tapetum, and left fornix. BVP patients showed decreased gray matter volume in the bilateral parahippocampal gyri, right precentral gyrus, anterior cingulate gyrus, and right middle temporal gyrus and increased gray matter volume in the right superior frontal gyrus compared with controls. Correlation analyses showed rs-fMRI and clinical variables showed no significant result. DHI correlated negatively with anatomical connectivity in the bilateral frontal parahippocampal cingulum, corpus callosum, right inferior fronto-occipital fasciculus, bilateral fornix, and gray matter volumes in the bilateral middle occipital gyri, right superior occipital gyrus, left angular gyrus, and right cuneus in BVP. VADL correlated negatively with Anatomical connectivity in the corpus callosum, bilateral fornix, bilateral cerebellum, bilateral superior and anterior thalamic radiation, right inferior fronto-occipital fasciculus, bilateral fronto-parietal cingulum, right dentatoruburothalamic tract and gray matter volumes in the right angular gyri, bilateral parahippocampal gyri, right middle temporal gyrus, right cuneus, bilateral inferior occipital gyri, left middle occipital gyrus, right superior frontal gyrus, left fusiform gyrus, bilateral caudate, left cerebellar crus, and bilateral calcarine gyri in BVP.ConclusionsThis study identified reductions in the volume of the hippocampus and alterations in functional and anatomical connectivity that concurs with previously established characteristics of BVP.
