Glazing-related problems due to high temperatures in double skin façades
The thermal behaviour of a double skin façade building is modelled using the DOE-2 building energy simulation program. Maximum temperatures of glazed components of the double skin façade are determined to assess the occurrence of glazing-related problems, such as reduced thermal and aesthetic performance, increased maintenance costs and even injury hazards. The importance of detailed thermal modelling of double skin façades and of its glazed componentes is concluded
abandono e insucesso.
Positive psychological functioning in a sample of portuguese students
This study explores different personal resources related to
well-being and positive psychological functioning of
Portuguese university students. The analysis considers the
field of studies and gender. The positive psychological
functioning scale (FPP) was applied to a sample of 1070
students, who were attending the 1st and 3rd years of
different courses. The findings suggest an effect of the
interaction of gender and field of studies in 5 of the 11
dimensions of FPP. Higher scores were found in men in
Resilience, Self-Esteem and Optimism. The field of studies
differentiates Resilience, Self-Esteem, Purpose in Life,
Enjoyment, and Optimism, with higher scores in the group
of students in health sciences courses. The results are
discussed regarding implications for intervention in Higher

Positive psychological functioning scale: adaptation and initial validation studies with portuguese college students
In the last decades research focused on well-being has been prominent, especially with the emergence of Positive Psychology. In this context, it is necessary to invest in the construction and validation of appropriate instruments to assess the dimensions of a healthy psychological functioning. This study aims to adapt and validate the Positive Psychological Functioning Scale (EFPP; Merino & Privado, 2015) with a sample of Portuguese university students. A total of 1131 students from two universities participated in the study, with an average age of 19.6 years. In addition to EFPP, Satisfaction With Life Scale (SWLS; Diener et al., 1985) was used for criterion validity. Results showed good psychometric properties of EFPP, both in terms of reliability and validity. Given the scarcity of positive functioning assessment instruments that have proved to be satisfactory in our country, the use of this scale may be recommended, particularly with young university students. In the last decades research focused on well-being has been prominent, especially with the emergence of Positive Psychology. Torrance Test of Creative Thinking: The question of its construct validity
Some cognitive dimensions are internationally considered by psychologists to describe and to assess creativity. For example, (Guilford, P. (1976). Creatividad y Educaci ´on. Buenos Aires. Ed. Paidos) and (Torrance, E. P. (1977). Discovery and nurturance of giftedness in the culturally different. Reston, VA: Council on Exceptional Children) suggested fluency, flexibility, originality and elaboration are the main cognitive processes used to define and assess creativity. However, data from several empirical studies did not confirm a factor structure in accordance with such cognitive functions, despite of the wide use of TTCT (Torrance Tests of Creative Thinking) in different countries. In this paper, we present new data collected in Spain and Portugal with TTCT. According to our data, those cognitive functions supposedly present on a subject’s performance are not so strong as to explain the variance in scores. Elaboration factors assume some variance explanation, but the main factors are identified with the products in each subtest, suggesting the importance of format, content and demand on TTCT specific tasks. Consequently, we suggest some reflections to amplify the debate concerning the definition of creativity and its evaluation in psychology.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Information processing among high-performance managers
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the information processing of 43 business managers with a professional superior performance. The theoretical framework consid-ers three models: the Theory of Managerial Roles of Henry Mintzberg, the Theory of In-formation Processing, and Process Model Response to Rorschach by John Exner. The participants have been evaluated by Rorschach method. The results show that these managers are able to collect data, evaluate them and establish rankings properly. At same time they are capable of being objective and accurate in the problems assessment. This information processing style permits an interpretation of the world around on basis of a very personal and characteristic processing way or cognitive style.
Nanominerals assemblages and hazardous elements assessment in phosphogypsum from an abandoned phosphate fertilizer industry
The present work investigates hazardous elements and nanomineralogical assemblages of phosphogypsum waste from an abandoned phosphate fertilizer industry located in Santa Catarina state (Brazil). Correlations between the chemical composition, nanominerals, and ultrafine particles are discussed. Multifaceted physical-geochemical study provided a careful understanding of the nanomineralogical assemblage of the phosphogypsum waste. The electron beam investigation revealed the presence of many hazardous elements in the ultrafine particles. Cr, Pb, Mn, Se, Sr, and Zr, among others, were found in individual ultrafine particles and nanominerals in all studied samples. Besides that, rare earth elements were found in different concentration ranges, being Ce, La, and Nd, the rare earth elements, found in the higher concentrations, above 900 mg kg−1. The data supplied by this article are important to characterize the phosphogypsum waste, assessing the potential hazard to the environment and human health, and also, provides information to enable the designing of alternatives to manage this waste
